Location 

The camera cover (KAB) control unit (N144) is located in the liftgate.

Task 

The camera cover (KAB) control unit (N144) controls the opening and closing of the camera cover.

For this, it complies with the following tasks:

• Reading in of signals 
• Evaluation of signals 
• Actuation of components 
• Output of signals 

Reading in of signals 

Signals are read in via the following connections:

• Direct line 
• Interior CAN (CAN B) 

Direct line 

The camera cover (KAB) control unit (N144) reads in the status of liftgate open switch, exterior operation, reversing camera/360° camera (S202) via direct line.

Interior CAN (CAN B) 

The following signals, among others, are read in via interior CAN (CAN B):

• Terminal status of terminal 15
• Status of reversing camera control unit (B84/3) (MODEL 447.6/7 with CODE W65 (Liftgate))
• Status of rear 360° camera (B84/4) (model 447.8 with code JS1 (360° camera))
• Status of reversing camera control unit (B84/5) (MODEL 447.8 with CODE FR8 (Reversing camera))
• Open or close camera cover request

The functions that use these signals are described in the individual function descriptions (see block diagram or function schematic).

Evaluation of signals 

The signals that have been read in are evaluated by the integrated microprocessor and the corresponding components are then actuated.

Actuation of components 

The camera cover (KAB) control unit (N144) actuates the motor in the liftgate open switch, exterior operation, reversing camera/360° camera (S202) directly.

Output of signals 

The camera cover (KAB) control unit (N144) transmits the status of the camera cover over the interior CAN (CAN B).
