Function requirements in general
- "Terminal 15R ON"
The electronic ignition lock (EZS) control unit (N73) sends the status of terminal 15 via the chassis CAN (CAN E), the central gateway (N93/4) and the user interface CAN (CAN HMI) to the instrument cluster (IC) control unit (A1/1).

Workshop level adjustments, general
The "Workshop level" menu is used for reading out vehicle and service data and for support with carrying out the service.
It is called up as follows:
With Code CL4 (Multifunction steering wheel with trip computer)
- Select the total distance in the menu "Journey".
- Press and hold accept phone call button and "OK" button (4) simultaneously for longer than 3 s.
The indicator in the multifunction display (A1/1p13) of the instrument cluster (IC) control unit switches to the "Workshop level" menu. By pressing the scroll forward button or the scroll back button at the left multifunction steering wheel button group (S110), it is possible to change between the respective menu and submenu or to scroll through various lists. Selection is then made by pressing the "OK" button (4).
The steering wheel electronics (N135) reads in the signals from the buttons at the left multifunction steering wheel button group and right multifunction steering wheel button group (S111) directly. It sends this over the steering LIN (LIN E1) to the steering column tube module (MRM) control unit (N80). The steering column tube module (MRM) control unit sends these signals to the instrument cluster (IC) control unit via the chassis CAN, the central gateway and the user interface CAN in the case of model 447.8, and via the chassis CAN in the case of model 447.6/7.

The menu "Workshop level" can be operated using the following buttons on the instrument cluster (IC) control unit:
- Menu button (A1/1s2)
- Reset button (A1/1s1)
The following menus are accessible:
- "Vehicle data" menu
- "Dynamometer test" menu
- "Change brake pad" menu
"Vehicle data" menu
The following data can be called up in the vehicle data menu:
- Voltage (in volts) and power consumption (in amps) in on-board electrical system
- Data from instrument cluster (IC) control unit (e.g. version numbers, software releases)
- Engine data (e.g. engine number)
- Vehicle identification number (VIN)
"Dynamometer test" menu
Activating the dynamometer test prevents faults being entered in the Electronic Stability Program (ESP) control unit (N30/4) during the brake test on the roller dynamometer.
The following settings can be selected in the dynamometer menu:
- "On"
- "Off with circuit 15 OFF"
If the workshop menu is left and the menu "Dynamometer test" was not deactivated prior to this, it will be automatically called up during the next ignition cycle.
"Change brake pad" menu
In the "Change brake lining" menu, none of the settings can be selected.
