Check All Visible Parts In Engine Compartment For Damage And Fluid Loss - AP00.20-P-0055E

DANGER Risk of death  when working on component parts and systems with U >= 30 V alternating voltage (AC) or U >= 60 V direct voltage (DC) Do not touch damaged or defective live component parts and lines or non-insulated electrical connections and lines. AS00.00-Z-0035-01A 
WARNING Risk of injury.  Skin or eye injuries may result when handling hot or glowing objects. Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses, if necessary. AS00.00-Z-0002-01A 
WARNING Risk of injury  from engine start by remote start function Prior to starting work, open engine hood, do not reach into rotation range or hazard area of freely rotating parts, wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes AS00.00-Z-0024-01A 
WARNING Risk of injury  due to fan starting unexpectedly Do not reach into the rotation or hazard area of the fan. Wear closed and close-fitting work clothes. AS20.40-Z-0001-01A
CAUTION Risk of injury  caused by scraping or cutting body parts on sharp vehicle parts Always wear protective gloves when working on or near sharp and non-deburred vehicle parts.

REMOVING Remove     
1 Remove left rear engine compartment trim (3).    
2 Remove engine cover (1). Model 213, 238, 253 (except 253.99), 257, 290  
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR   Engine 177 in model 213 AR01.10-P-2405MNE
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR   Engine 256 in model 257 AR01.10-P-2405MSA
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR   Engine 654 in model 213, 238 AR01.10-P-2405OLC
    Model 290 with engine 177 AP01.10-P-2405-01E
    Model 290 with engine 256.9 AP01.10-P-2405-01F
3 Remove right rear engine compartment trim (2).    
INSPECT Check     
4 Check visible systems, component parts, lines and hoses in engine compartment for crack formation, damage, corrosion, correct mounting, correct routing and fluid loss. IMPORTANTIf necessary, use commercially available devices/tools. 
Swiveling inspection mirror with lighting, comparable to inspection mirror Hazet 1977-1
IMPORTANT Hood catch, Hood hinges and dampers, Brake system, Steering, Wheel wells
Upper suspension strut mount, Suspension lines and sensors, Engine and mounted major assemblies, Cooling system, Heater and A/C system, Body reinforcements, Exhaust system, Exhaust aftertreatment, Heat shields, Fuel system, Electrical components.
If problems are determined,

rectify the problems.
IMPORTANT After obtaining special order.
 
5 Check visible systems, component parts, lines and hoses in engine compartment for crack formation, damage, corrosion, correct mounting, correct routing and fluid loss. Equipment-dependent.
IMPORTANTIf necessary, use commercially available devices/tools. 
Swiveling inspection mirror with lighting, comparable to inspection mirror Hazet 1977-1
IMPORTANT Inerting system, 48 V components, Hybrid components, Stationary heater.
If problems are determined,

rectify the problems.
IMPORTANT After obtaining special order.
 
6 Check visible body panels, major assembly carriers and body reinforcements for crack formation, damage, deformation and corrosion. IMPORTANTIf necessary, use commercially available devices/tools.

If problems are determined,

proceed in accordance with the country-specific regulations for mobility and body shell complaints.
 
7 Check visible systems, component parts, lines, hoses, body panels, major assembly carriers and body reinforcements in engine compartment at underside of vehicle for crack formation, damage, deformation, corrosion, correct mounting, correct routing and fluid loss. Model 213, 238, 257, 290 AP00.20-P-0054I 
    Model 253 (except 253.99) AP00.20-P-0054G
INSTALLING Install     
8 Install left rear engine compartment trim (3).    
9 Install engine cover (1). Model 213, 238, 253 (except 253.99), 257, 290  
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR   Engine 177 in model 213 AR01.10-P-2405MNE
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR   Engine 256 in model 257 AR01.10-P-2405MSA
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR   Engine 654 in model 213, 238 AR01.10-P-2405OLC
