Drain/Pour In Coolant - AR20.00-P-1142FR

WARNING Risk of injury  to skin and eyes suffering scalding from contact with hot coolant spray. Risk of poisoning  from swallowing coolant. Do not open cooling system unless coolant temperature is below 90°C. Open cap slowly and release the overpressure. Do not pour coolant into beverage containers.
Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses.

  Drain off     
1 Slowly open cap at engine cooling system coolant expansion reservoir and remove.   AR20.30-P-4950MNI 
2 Remove front and center lower engine compartment paneling.   AR61.20-P-1105FRX
3 Slide suitable drain hose onto drain fitting (3).    
4 Open drain valve (4) at engine cooling system cooler (1) and drain coolant into suitable container NOTES
Only open drain valve (4) to extent that coolant can drain out.
Otherwise damage will occur on drain valve (4) and on engine cooling system cooler (1).
IMPORTANT Observe regulations to dispose of coolant.
 
5 Remove coolant hose (2) from additional cooler in right wheel arch and drain coolant into suitable container. Engine 177 in model 290.689 AR20.20-P-7441-01RQ 
  Pour in     
6 Close drain valve (4).    
7 Remove drain hose from drain fitting (3).    
8 Install coolant hose (2) on additional cooler in right wheel arch. Engine 177 in model 290.689 AR20.20-P-7441-01RQ 
9 Pour in coolant and bleed engine cooling system. IMPORTANT Use clean coolant again. AR20.00-P-1142-04A

10 Check engine cooling system for leak tightness. IMPORTANT Only install upper engine cover, front and center lower engine compartment lining after engine test run. AR20.00-P-1011MNI 
WARNING Risk of accident  from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury  (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running. Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes.
Do not touch hot or rotating parts.

11 Perform engine test run and check engine cooling system for proper operation.    
12 Install the front and lower center engine compartment lining.   AR61.20-P-1105FRX
13 Install upper engine cover.
