Check Engine Cooling System For Leaktightness - AR20.00-P-1011MNI

WARNING Risk of injury  to skin and eyes suffering scalding from contact with hot coolant spray. Risk of poisoning  from swallowing coolant. Do not open cooling system unless coolant temperature is below 90°C. Open cap slowly and release the overpressure. Do not pour coolant into beverage containers.
Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses.

REMOVING Remove     
1 Switch on ignition.    
2 Adjust heater to maximum heat output.    
3 Remove front and center lower engine compartment paneling.   AR61.20-P-1105FRX
4 Remove upper engine cover.    
5 Remove cap (1).    
INSPECT Check     
6 Check coolant level and correct. FLUID SPECIFICATION Coolant mixing ratio *BF20.00-P-1001-04A 
    FLUID SPECIFICATION Cooling system *BF20.00-P-1001-02LA 
7 Attach tester cap (3) to coolant expansion reservoir (2). SPECIAL TOOL Test cap Fig 1
8 Connect pressure pump (4) at tester cap SPECIAL TOOL Pressure pump Fig 2
9 Apply a test pressure to the engine cooling system for 2 minutes. NOTES
Do not exceed the specified test pressure.
Otherwise the engine cooling system will be damaged.
 
    IMPORTANT There must not be any pressure loss within 2 min.
Test pressure for pressure-testing the cooling system

10 Check condition of all coolant carrying component parts and connections and check for leak tightness. Only in case of pressure loss.
If complaints are present,
↓
Replace corresponding components.
 
11 Relieve test pressure via valve on pressure pump (4). SPECIAL TOOL Pressure pump Fig 2
12 Remove pressure pump (4) from tester cap (3). SPECIAL TOOL Pressure pump Fig 2
13 Remove tester cap (3). SPECIAL TOOL Test cap Fig 1
14 Check coolant level and correct. FLUID SPECIFICATION Coolant mixing ratio *BF20.00-P-1001-04A 
    FLUID SPECIFICATION Cooling system *BF20.00-P-1001-02LA 
INSTALLING Install     
15 Attach the cap (1).    
16 Install upper engine cover.    
17 Install the front and lower center engine compartment lining.   AR61.20-P-1105FRX
18 Switch off ignition.
