	Remove/install
1	Secure vehicle to prevent it moving away.
2	Put transmission into neutral position.
3	Release parking brake.
4	Remove exhaust system.	Model 290 with engine 256.9	AR49.10-P-7142MSA

5	Remove all heat shields under propeller shaft (1).
6	Remove reinforcement at front (2).	Bolt, reinforcement under seat to frame floor assembly	*BA61.10-P-1005-01L
7	Remove reinforcement in center (3).	Bolt, center reinforcement to frame floor assembly	*BA61.10-P-1003-01L
8	Mark propeller shaft (1).	In order to be able to reproduce the factory installation position when installing, apply a color marking identifying the position of the propeller shaft (1) relative to the flanges on the transmission and rear-axle differential.
9	Mark propeller shaft intermediate bearing (5) relative to frame floor assembly.	Observe marking in order to reproduce the ex factory installation position.
10	Loosen screws on propeller shaft intermediate bearing (5).	Bolt, propeller shaft intermediate bearing to frame floor assembly	*BA41.40-P-1001-01H
11	Detach front joint flange (7) from transfer case.	A helper is required to counterhold the rear axle differential flex disk (6).

	Drift for releasing the fitting sleeves in the flexible couplings		WF58.50-P-4110-01A
		Aid of helper required.
		The flex disk (6) remains on the propeller shaft (1).

13	Remove screws from propeller shaft intermediate bearing (5) and guide out propeller shaft (1) towards the rear.	Screw in the screws loosely and only tighten when the front joint flange (7) on the transmission and the flex disk (6) on the rear axle differential have been tightened. Vibrations in the drive train and damage may otherwise occur.
	Check
14	Check propeller shaft intermediate bearing (5) for wear and damage.	If problems exist, ↓ Replace propeller shaft (1).
15	Check pilot bushings for wear and damage.	If problems exist, ↓ Replace pilot bushings.

16	Check flex disk (6) for wear and damage.
		If problems exist, ↓ Replace flex disk (6).	AP41.10-P-4152EW
17	Install in the reverse order.
