DANGER Risk of accident  when commissioning the vehicle due to a lack of braking effect when the service brake is operated for the first time after repair work. Before starting the engine, actuate brake pedal several times until pressure is built up and maintained in the brake system. AS42.50-Z-0002-01A 
WARNING Risk of injury.  Skin or eye injuries may result when handling hot or glowing objects. Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses, if necessary. AS00.00-Z-0002-01A
CAUTION Risk of poisoning  from swallowing brake fluid. Risk of injury  from skin and eye contact with brake fluid Only pour brake fluid into suitable and appropriately marked containers. Wear protective clothing and eye protection when handling brake fluid. AS42.50-Z-0001-01A

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
1 Remove cover over brake fluid reservoir.    
2 Clean area around cap of brake fluid reservoir. Assembly cleaner *BR00.45-Z-1028-04A 
3 Unscrew cap of brake fluid reservoir and suction off some brake fluid. IMPORTANT This prevents the brake fluid reservoir from overflowing when the brake pistons are pushed back.  
4 Move brake pads (9) of rear axle into assembly position.   AR42.10-P-1710-01FR 
    NOTES
Do not operate the service brake while "Move to assembly position" is shown.
Otherwise the spindle in the brake caliper (1) will be damaged.
 
    IMPORTANT The hood must be closed.  
5 Switch off ignition and store transmitter key outside of transmitter range (min. 2 m).    
6 Remove respective rear wheel.   AR40.10-P-1102A
7 Unhook electric line (13) from holders. When removing brake caliper (1) on right.  
8 Unhook electric line (14) from holders.    
9 Disconnect plug (2) from brakepad wear sensor coupling housing (5). When removing brake caliper (1) on right.  
10 Unscrew screw (4) and hang brakepad wear sensor coupling housing (5) to one side. When removing brake caliper (1) on right.  
11 Release and disconnect electrical plug from left electric parking brake actuator motor (M76/1) and right electric parking brake actuator motor (M76/2).    
12 Remove brake hose (7).   AR42.10-P-0023FRX 
13 Unscrew screw (3) at top and bottom on brake caliper support (11). TORQUE SPECIFICATION Guide pin to brake caliper support or bolt for guide pin to brake caliper *BA42.10-P-1003-12W 
14 Remove brake caliper (1) from brake caliper support (11). INSTALLATION NOTES
The new brake caliper (1) is shipped in prefilled condition and it must not be drained.
Otherwise the brake caliper (1) cannot be vented.
 
15 Remove left electric parking brake actuator motor (M76/1) and right electric parking brake actuator motor (M76/2) from brake caliper (1). When replacing the brake caliper (1). AR42.20-P-0600FRX 
INSPECT Check     
16 Check brake caliper (1) and dust boot on brake piston for leak tightness and damage. If there is a problem,

Replace brake caliper (1).
 
17 Check brake caliper support (11) for damage. If there is a problem,

replace brake caliper support (11).

18 Check guide pins (12) for damage and ease of movement. If there is a problem,

replace brake caliper support (11).

19 Remove brake pads (9) and check for wear and condition.    
REFER TO MAINTENANCE   If there is a problem,

replace brake pads (9).

20 Check brake disk (10).   AR42.10-P-0270RG 
    If there is a problem,

replace corresponding brake disk (10).

21 Check brake hose (7) and brake line piece (99) for damage. INSTALLATION NOTES
The brake line piece (99) of the brake hose (7) must not be bent.
A bent brake line piece (99) can lead to functional impairment of the brake system.
 
    If there is a problem,

replace brake hose (7).

22 Install in the reverse order.    
23 Bleed brake system.   AR42.10-P-0010FR 
24 Operate brake pedal several times until the brake pads (9) make contact with the brake disks (10). IMPORTANT Firm resistance should be noticeable at the brake pedal.
