	Remove/install
1	Remove front left or right wheel and tire assembly.		AR40.10-P-1102ME
2	Transfer the pneumatic pressure of the suspension strut into the central reservoir using the diagnostic system.	Model 167 with code 489 (AIRMATIC Dual Control/semi-active air suspension) except code 490 (Electrohydraulic suspension)

		The complete wheels must not touch the ground. Otherwise the suspension struts may suffer initial damage and malfunction at a later stage Select menu item "Actuations" in active suspension and damping system control unit.
3	Remove screw (5) and remove torsion bar linkage (3) from stabilizer (4).	Bolt, stabilizer rod to stabilizer	*BA32.35-P-1002-02D
4	Relieve threaded connection of shock absorber on lower control arm (6) and release.

5	Remove nut (7) and remove screw (2).	Self-locking nut, shock absorber to wishbone	*BA32.25-P-1002-01O
6	Remove nut (9) and remove steering knuckle (10) from upper transverse control arm (8).	Self-locking nut, upper ball joint out of upper transverse control arm to steering knuckle	*BA33.20-P-1001-01W
7	Secure steering knuckle (10) against tipping over using suitable means.
8	Lower the lower control arm (6) until the shock absorber mount (1) is accessible.

9	Press out shock absorber mount (1) toward front.	Do not exceed a pressure of 140 bar. Otherwise, the shock absorber mount (1) will be damaged. Press in shock absorber mount (1) from front to back. Observe marking.

10	Thoroughly clean bearing surfaces of shock absorber mount (1) on lower control arm (6) and check for damage.	If damage is present, ↓ replace lower control arm (6).	AR33.20-P-0510ME
11	Install in the reverse order.
