| 1 | Switch off ignition and keep transmitter key outside transmitter range (at least 2 m) | ||

| 3 | Unclip lower air duct segment from fan unit (4) | Model 253 with engine 651 | |
| 4 | Unclip coolant line (9) from fan unit (1) | Engine 274.9 in model 253.354/954 | |
| 5 | Release and disconnect electrical connection (5) | ||
| 6 | Remove upper engine cover | ||
| 7.1 | Remove engine air intake duct upstream of air filter | Model 253 with engine 274.9, 651 | |
| 7.2 | Remove engine air intake ducts upstream of air filters | Model 253 with engine 276.8, 642 | |
| 8 | Detach the front bumper from reinforcement (3) and headlamps | AR88.20-P-2000LW | |
| 9 | Unclip cable (1) from cold air intake (2) | ||
| 10 | Remove retaining clip and remove cold air intake (2) from reinforcement (3) | ||
| 11 | Remove reinforcement (3) | AR62.30-P-1570LW | |
| 12 | Remove engine air intake duct downstream of air filter | Model 253 with engine 651 with code 2U1 (Radiator shutter) |

| 14 | Detach switchover valve (8) from fan unit (1) and put it to one side with connected lines | Engine 274.9 in model 253.354/954 | |
| 15 | Unclip cold air guide (6) from fan unit (4) and place to one side | ||
| 16 | Unclip fan unit (4) from radiator frame and pull out upwards | ||
| 17 | Install in the reverse order | ||
