Deburr repair panels.

CAUTION Risk of injury  to skin and eyes due to handling of engine oil. Risk of poisoning  caused by swallowing engine oil Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses.
Do not fill engine oil into beverage containers.

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
1 Remove upper engine cover.    
REFER TO MAINTENANCE   INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Do not install upper engine cover until after the leak test. AP01.10-P-2405-01C 
2 Drain off coolant.   AR20.00-P-1142MFC
3 Release, disconnect bleed line (1) at connecting flange to charge-air distributor and seal openings with suitable stop plugs. SPECIAL TOOL Record plug Fig 4
4 Detach partial-load operation crankcase ventilation valve (Y58/2) at cable duct. NOTES Do not crush or kink or subject electric lines to tension.
Otherwise, the electric lines will be damaged.
 
5 Release and disconnect electrical connector a partial-load operation crankcase ventilation valve (Y58/2).    
6.1 Remove upper part of charge air pipe from charge air cooler toward charge-air distributor. Engine 260 in model 118, 177, 247

6.2 Remove charge air cooler. Engine 260 in model 118, 177, 247

7 Unclip bleed line (4) from charge-air distributor.    
8 Remove electrical connector (7) from charge-air distributor.    
9 Open clamp (8), remove coolant hose and seal openings using suitable protective covers IMPORTANTCommercially available devices/tools

10 Actuate lock (6) of connector coupling (5), remove connector coupling (5) and seal openings with suitable stop plugs. IMPORTANT Turn bleed line (4) with connected partial-load operation crankcase ventilation valve (Y58/2) and thus facilitate access to lock (6).

11 Remove partial-load operation crankcase ventilation valve (Y58/2) with connected bleed lines (1, 4). IMPORTANT Replace partial-load operation crankcase ventilation system valve (Y58/2).  
12 Install in the reverse order.    
WARNING Risk of accident  from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury  (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running. Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts. AS00.00-Z-0005-01A
13 Perform engine test run. While doing so, check engine for proper operation and leak tightness    
14 Install upper engine cover.
