Disassemble/Assemble Rear Axle Shaft - AR35.30-P-7351F

	Remove
1	Remove rear axle shaft (1).		AR35.30-P-0620F
	Disassemble
2	Clamp rear axle shaft (1) before disassembling.	Screw two wheel bolts into rear axle shaft (1) and clamp it into vise.
3	Release and remove slotted nut with right-hand thread (9.1) or slotted nut with left-hand thread (9.2).	Pronged wrench	Fig 1
4	Remove lock washer (8).
5	Remove square sealing ring (7).
6	Press tapered roller bearing (6) off rear axle shaft (1).		AR35.30-P-7351-01B
		Do not damage the ABS measuring ring on vehicles with anti-lock braking system (ABS). Otherwise, the anti-lock braking system (ABS) will malfunction.

7	Remove bearing cap (2) and dust shield (5) from rear axle shaft (1).
8	Remove radial shaft sealing ring (3) in bearing cap (2).
	Assemble
9	Press radial shaft sealing ring (3) into bearing cap (2).	Install a new radial shaft sealing ring (3).
		Fill space between dust lip and sealing lip with grease, apply light coating of grease to sealing lip. Press in radial shaft sealing ring (3) flush to a maximum of 0.3 mm inside bearing cap (2).

10	Slide bearing cap (2) and dust shield (5) onto rear axle shaft (1).
11	Slide tapered roller bearing (6) onto rear axle shaft (1).
12	Slide square sealing ring (7) onto tapered roller bearing (6).	Replace square sealing ring (7).
13	Press tapered roller bearing (6) with lock washer (8) onto rear axle shaft (1).		AR35.30-P-7351-01B
		Turn bearing outer race during the pressing-on procedure. Otherwise, the tapered roller bearing (6) will be damaged.
		The anti-twist lock of the lock washer (8) must be flush with the cutout of the rear axle shaft (1). Otherwise, the rear axle shaft (1) will be damaged.
		Replace lock washer (8). The flat side of the lock washer (8) must face towards the slotted nut with right-hand thread (9.1) or slotted nut with left-hand thread (9.2). Fit a lock washer (8) to ensure that only the bearing inner race is pressed when pressing on. With anti-lock braking system, do not damage the ABS measuring ring.

14	Install slotted nut with right-hand thread (9.1) or slotted nut with left-hand thread (9.2).	Slotted nut to rear axle shaft	*BA35.30-P-1002-01C

15	Secure slotted nut with right-hand thread (9.1) or slotted nut with left-hand thread (9.2) using a lock washer (8) on both grooves.	Secure slotted nut with right-hand thread (9.1) or slotted nut with left-hand thread (9.2) so that both directions of rotation are locked (see arrows on axle shaft and illustration above).
	Install
16	Install rear axle shaft (1).		AR35.30-P-0620F
