	Remove
1	Remove fixed caliper.		AR42.10-P-0105GG
2	Remove brake disk.		AR42.10-P-0220GG
3	Unscrew steering damper.
4	Remove shift cylinder of differential lock.	When removing left joint housing.
		Model 460, 461 (except 461.331) with code A70 (Differential lock, front axle) Model 463 (except 463.270/271) up to model year 2013 with code A70 (Differential lock, front axle)/Facelift 2012	AR33.40-P-0403GG
5	Remove castle nut from tie rod and press off tie rod end (1).	Puller	Fig 5
6	Measure stop screw for wheel angle and note down dimension.
7	Detach seal retainer (2).
8	Detach kingpin (3) at top.	Fasten shims (9) at top of kingpin (3) and do not mix them up. Otherwise the pretension of the steering knuckle bearing will have to be adjusted again.
9	Detach steering knuckle arm (4).	Fasten shims (10) on steering knuckle arm and steering arm, and do not mix them up. Otherwise the pretension of the steering knuckle bearing will have to be adjusted again.
10	Remove joint housing (5) with drive shaft.
11	Secure tapered roller bearing to corresponding kingpin and steering knuckle arm.
12	Remove shaft seal (7).	Internal extractor	Fig 2

13	Remove bearing bushing (8).	Internal extractor	Fig 2

	Check
14	Lift boot and check tie rod end (1) for rust.	If rust is present: ↓ Replace tie rod end (1).
15	Check ball heads for play and replace, if necessary.	Test panel	Fig 1
16	Check removed parts for wear and damage, replace, if necessary.
	Clean
17	Clean removed parts.
	Install
18	Install bearing bushing (8).
19	Coat new shaft seal (7) with multipurpose grease and drive in flush.	MB multipurpose grease, 400 g	*BR00.45-Z-1017-06A

21	Install tapered roller bearing and sealing rings for kingpin in axle tube.
22	Install joint housing (5) with drive shaft.
23	Adjust steering knuckle bearing.	When replacing the axle housing, the joint housing (5) or the kingpin, or if the shim (9) or the shim (10) has been swapped or lost.	AR33.25-P-0401A
24	Install kingpin (3) at top with shim (9).	Bolt, kingpin to joint housing	*BA33.20-P-1003-01C
25	Install steering knuckle arm (4) at bottom with shim (10).	Bolt, steering knuckle arm to joint housing	*BA33.20-P-1002-01C
26	Attach seal retainer (2) to joint housing (5).	Replace paper gasket and sealing ring. Bolt/nut, seal retainer to joint housing/hub reduction gear	*BA33.20-P-1008-01C
27	Remove screw plug (11) from joint housing (5).
28	Pack joint housing (5) with lubricant and tighten screw plug (11).	Multipurpose grease	*BF33.20-P-1001-02A

29	Install shift cylinder of differential lock.	When removing left joint housing.

30	Install brake disk.		AR42.10-P-0220GG
31	Install fixed brake caliper.	Install new micro-encapsulated bolts.	AR42.10-P-0105GG
32	Grease stem of ball stud and bore in steering knuckle arm.	MB multipurpose grease, 400 g	*BR00.45-Z-1017-06A
33	Attach tie rod end (1) and secure castle nut using cotter pin.	Nut, tie rod to track lever	*BA33.15-P-1006-01A
34	Install steering damper.	Bolt, steering damper to steering damper bracket	*BA33.20-P-1004-01C
	Check
35	Check toe at front axle and adjust if necessary.	Model 460, 461 (except 461.331/339) Model 463 (except 463.270/271) up to model year 2013	AR40.20-P-0323GG
