Electric Seat Ventilation, Function - GF91.30-P-0002GW
Model 463
as of model year 2013 up to model year 2019
with code PA1 (Seat comfort package)
Function requirements, general
- Circuit 15R ON or circuit 15 ON
- Seat ventilation functional (no shutoff as a result of short circuit, overvoltage or undervoltage)
The electronic ignition lock control unit sends the status of circuit 15 via interior CAN to the SAM control unit.
Seat ventilation, general
The seat cushions and backrests of the front seats can be ventilated in three stages using the seat ventilation.
During comfort opening of the vehicle, seat ventilation of the front seats is switched on in stage 3. If circuit 15R is then not switched on, the seat ventilation is shut off after t = 5 minutes.
Detailed information on the convenience opening function is available in a separate document.
Seat ventilation function sequence
The corresponding seat ventilation is switched on and off and the ventilation output is regulated using the left front seat ventilation button and right front seat ventilation button in the upper control panel control unit (initial state of seat ventilation deactivated, all LEDs off):
- Press once:
3 LEDs light up, stage 3 of seat ventilation and seat cooling activated (P = 100%)
First, the seat ventilation motors are actuated in the "suction" direction of rotation (seat cooling), then after t = 7 minutes, the direction of rotation is reversed to "blowing" (seat ventilation).
- Press two times:
2 LEDs light up, stage 2 of seat ventilation activated (P = 65 %)
- Press three times:
1 LED lights up, stage 1 of seat ventilation activated (P = 35 %)
- Press four times:
All LEDs off, seat ventilation switched off The upper control panel control unit directly reads in the status of the respective seat ventilation button and sends this via battery sensor LIN to the SAM control unit. The SAM control unit sends the request via interior CAN to driver seat control unit or to front passenger seat control unit.
In accordance with the status of the seat ventilation, the driver seat control unit or the front passenger seat control unit sends status feedback to actuate the LED over the interior CAN, SAM control unit and battery sensor LIN to the upper control panel control unit which directly actuates the LED.
The driver seat control unit actuates the following components:
- Left front seat cushion seat ventilation motors
- Left front backrest seat ventilation motors
The front passenger seat control unit actuates the following components:
- Right front seat cushion seat ventilation motors
- Right front backrest seat ventilation motors
Shutoff criteria:
- Shutoff after circuit 15R OFF:
If circuit 15C remains ON, the timer control runs on for t = 5 minutes. If circuit 15R is switched on again, the seat ventilation is also switched on in the previously activated blower setting.
- Switching off by energy management:
In order to prevent the battery from discharging in all driving cycle phases, the state of charge is continuously evaluated. Depending on the situation, the seat ventilation is also deactivated if necessary.
- Deactivation with undervoltage or overvoltage:
If the driver seat control unit or the front passenger seat control unit switches off the seat ventilation motors, the LED for the respective seat heater button initially goes on. If the on-board electrical system returns to normal voltage within a follow-on period of t = 3 minutes, the seat ventilation is automatically started again. However, if the shutoff takes longer than t = 3 minutes, the light-emitting diode for the respective seat ventilation button is also switched off. If the shutoff continues and the function is requested again using the respective seat ventilation button, the light-emitting diode lights up for t = 1.5 s and then goes out.
- Shutoff in the event of a hardware defect:
If actuation of the seat ventilation motors by one of the seat ventilation buttons is detected without any request pending, the power supply to the seat ventilation is switched off.
- Shutoff during engine starting procedure:
During a start sequence, only the seat ventilation motors are switched off. The LEDs in the function indicator are still illuminated. Undervoltage is not recognized while starting and no faults are stored.
