Remove/Install Left Fuel Rail With Fuel Injectors - AR07.03-P-1050XGC

  Risk of explosion  caused by fuel igniting, risk of poisoning  caused by inhaling and swallowing fuel as well as risk of injury  to eyes and skin caused by contact with fuel. No fires, sparks, open flames or smoking. Pour fuels into suitable and appropriately marked containers only.
Wear protective clothing when handling fuel.

CAUTION Risk of injury  caused by scraping or cutting body parts on sharp vehicle parts Always wear protective gloves when working on or near sharp and non-deburred vehicle parts.
Deburr repair panels.

REMOVING Remove     
1 Remove left high-pressure line.   AR07.03-P-1001XGC 
    INSTALLATION IMPORTANT : Only install upper engine cover after the leak test.  
2 Remove left low-pressure line from fuel high- pressure pump, fuel supply hose, and cylinder head cover and place to side.   AR07.03-P-1130XGC 
3 Remove purge line (1) at check valve and seal openings with suitable stop plugs. SPECIAL TOOL Record plug Fig 3
4 Remove noise insulation (2).    
5 Remove brackets (11).    
6 Mark fuel injectors of cylinders 5 to 8 (Y76/5, Y76/6, Y76/7, Y76/8) relative to respective cylinder. On reuse of fuel injectors of cylinders 5 to 8 (Y76/5, Y76/6, Y76/7, Y76/8).  
7 Remove screws/bolts (3). NOTES
Unscrew screws/bolts (3) alternately by half a revolution each. Start in the center of the rail (4) and work outward.
Otherwise, damage to the rail (4) will occur.
 
8 Remove rail (4) from fuel injectors of cylinders 5 to 8 (Y76/5, Y76/6, Y76/7, Y76/8) and seal connections with suitable stop plugs. SPECIAL TOOL Record plug Fig 3
9 Release and disconnect electrical connections of fuel injectors.    
10 Pull fuel injectors of cylinders 5 to 8 (Y76/5, Y76/6, Y76/7, Y76/8) out of cylinder head and seal injector shaft holes with suitable stop plugs.   AR07.03-P-0004-03MM

11 Check fuel injectors of cylinders 5 to 8 (Y76/5, Y76/6, Y76/7, Y76/8) for external damage and replace if necessary. On reuse of fuel injectors of cylinders 5 to 8 (Y76/5, Y76/6, Y76/7, Y76/8).  
INSTALLING Install     
12 Clean fuel connections at fuel injectors of cylinders 5 to 8 (Y76/5, Y76/6, Y76/7, Y76/8).   AR07.03-P-1010-04MM 
    NOTES
If fuel injectors of cylinders 5 to 8 (Y76/5, Y76/6, Y76/7, Y76/8) are replaced, they must be installed immediately after removing transport protection caps.
Leaks can occur otherwise.
NOTES
For cleaning the fuel connections, hold downwards.
Otherwise, failure of fuel injectors of cylinders 5 to 8 (Y76/5, Y76/6, Y76/7, Y76/8) occurs.

13 Remove sealing packages of fuel injectors of cylinders 5 to 8 (Y76/5, Y76/6, Y76/7, Y76/8) on rail (4).   AR07.03-P-0004-02MM

14 Replace sealing rings (12, 13) of fuel injectors of cylinders 5 to 8 (Y76/5, Y76/6, Y76/7, Y76/8).    
15 Replace sealing rings (14) of fuel injectors of cylinders 5 to 8 (Y76/5, Y76/6, Y76/7, Y76/8).   AR07.03-P-0004-01MM

16 Install fuel injectors of cylinders 5 to 8 (Y76/5, Y76/6, Y76/7, Y76/8) in rail (4) and fasten with brackets (11). NOTES
On reuse of fuel injectors of cylinders 5 to 8 (Y76/5, Y76/6, Y76/7, Y76/8), they must be inserted in the cylinder in which they were previously fitted.
Engine damage will occur otherwise.
IMPORTANT Replace brackets (11).
 
17 Read off injector injection quantity adjustment coding on fuel injectors of cylinders 5 to 8 (Y76/5, Y76/6, Y76/7, Y76/8) and note. When replacing fuel injectors of cylinders 5 to 8 (Y76/5, Y76/6, Y76/7, Y76/8).  
18 Insert rail (4) with fuel injectors of cylinders 5 to 8 (Y76/5, Y76/6, Y76/7, Y76/8) in left cylinder head.    
19 Tighten bolts (3). NOTES
Screw in screws/bolts (3) alternately by half a revolution each. Start in the center of the rail (4) and work outward.
Otherwise, damage to the rail (4) will occur.
 
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt, fuel distributor to cylinder head cover *BA07.52-P-1001-01J 
20 Install left fuel pressure and temperature sensor (B42/2) on rail (4). When installing new rail (4). AR07.04-P-0201XGC 
    IMPORTANT Use new left fuel pressure and temperature sensor (B42/2).  
21 Install noise insulation (2).    
22 Attach purge line (1) at check valve.    
23 Attach left low-pressure line with service connection at left cylinder head cover, fuel high-pressure pump, and fuel supply line.   AR07.03-P-1130XGC 
24 Install left high-pressure line.   AR07.03-P-1001XGC 
    IMPORTANT Only install upper engine cover after the leak test.  
25 Read out and delete fault memory.    
REFER TO SELF DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEMS     AD00.00-P-2000-04B
26 Store injector injection quantity adjustment coding in engine management control unit. When replacing fuel injectors of cylinders 5 to 8 (Y76/5, Y76/6, Y76/7, Y76/8).  
REFER TO SELF DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEMS     AD00.00-P-2000-04B
27 Check fuel high pressure circuit for leaktightness.    
REFER TO SELF DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEMS     AD00.00-P-2000-04B

WARNING Risk of accident  from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury  (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running. Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts. AS00.00-Z-0005-01A
28 Carry out engine test run and check engine for proper operation and leak tightness.    
29 Install upper engine cover.   AR01.10-P-2405XGC
