Function requirements for voice control system, general

Voice control system (VCS), general

The VCS allows various telematics functions (e.g. radio, telephone, navigation) to be operated.

Several vehicle functions can also be operated. This includes, e.g. the interior lighting, climate control and the massage function (with code PA9 (Active Multicontour Seat Package)).

The VCS is integrated into the head unit and entries can be made by spelling out words or inputting whole words. The VCS is switched on/off via the head unit multifunction steering wheel button group.

The steering wheel electronics read in the operation signals of the head unit multifunction steering wheel button group directly and sends them to the steering column tube module control unit over the steering wheel CAN. The steering column tube module control unit transmits the control signals from the head unit multifunction steering wheel button group to the head unit via the chassis FlexRay, electronic ignition lock control unit and user interface CAN.

Voice input takes place via the driver hands-free system microphone, which is connected to the head unit via a direct line. The head unit processes the signals internally and implements them accordingly.

IMPORTANT In order to work, the voice detection function must learn to recognize the driver's voice. If the driver's voice or the message of the voice command cannot be clearly identified, the VCS issues a query.

The audio signals are generated by the head unit and output via the speaker system. The head unit directly actuates the speaker system or sends corresponding signals over the MOST to the sound system amplifier control unit (with code EU8 (Burmester 3DSound system)).
