DYNAMIC SELECT function 

The DYNAMIC SELECT function influences essential vehicle systems that determine the driving experience. This affects the electric steering, the suspension, the ECO start/stop function and the drive train of the vehicle. Also influenced here are the characteristics of the throttle response, vehicle-speed dependent assistance of the steering and the shift points of the automatic transmission (transmission 725). In addition, the ECO start/stop function can be activated or deactivated in the "Individual" transmission mode.

The following transmission modes are available:

• ECO 
• Comfort 
• Sport 
• SPORT PLUS 
• Individual 

By operating the DYNAMIC SELECT switch (N72/4s1) in the left lower control panel (N72/4), the driver can select between four preconfigured transmission modes and an individual transmission mode. The selected transmission mode is shown in the instrument cluster (A1) and in the Audio/COMAND display (A40/8).

The head unit (A26/17) generates the corresponding image data and sends a switch-on request to the Audio/COMAND display via the telematics CAN (A). The image data is transmitted via the high-speed video link (HSVL) to the Audio/COMAND display.

The left lower control panel sends the signals from the DYNAMIC SELECT switch via the LCP LIN (LIN A3), the Audio/COMAND control panel (A40/9), the telematics CAN, the head unit, the user interface CAN, the electronic ignition lock control unit (N73) and the chassis FlexRay (Flex E) to the Electronic Stability Program control unit (N30/4).

The Electronic Stability Program control unit sends the information about the selected transmission mode via the chassis FlexRay to the relevant control units. These control units then set the parameters stored for the respective transmission mode.
