Remove/Install Front Fixed Element Of Panoramic Sliding Sunroof - AR77.21-P-0803LWE

Model 213, 238.3 

with code 413 (Panoramic sliding sunroof/glass roof)

WARNING Risk of injury  due to snapping or warming up of cutting wire and due to splinters when cutting out glued panoramic roofs Wear cut-proof gloves and safety glasses. AS77.21-Z-0002-01A

REMOVING Remove     
1 Open driver door side window IMPORTANT To prevent front stationary element (1) on panoramic sliding roof just glued in from being pressed outwards by the air pressure when closing the doors.  
2 Determine gap dimension between front stationary element (1) and flexible glass element (3) and note SPECIAL TOOL Feeler gauge Fig 1
3 Determine gap dimension (B) between front stationary element (1) and windshield (6) and note SPECIAL TOOL Feeler gauge Fig 1
4 Open flexible glass element (3) of panoramic roof    
5.1 Remove left and right drip rail (2) Model 213.0/1, 238.3 with code 413 (Panoramic sliding sunroof/glass roof)  
5.2 Remove left and right roof railing Model 213.2 with code 413 (Panoramic sliding sunroof/glass roof)  
6 Press seal (arrow) toward front on windshield (6) and fix in place with duct tape    
7 Mask adjacent paint surfaces with duct tape    
8 Route cutting wire (4) below front stationary element (1) as shown    
9 Cut adhesive beads (5) in direction of arrow NOTES
Additionally cover body with cloth.
Otherwise the paint on the body can be damaged.
NOTES
Ensure that outer edges of the front stationary element (1) is protected by SPECIAL TOOL shields before cutting with cutting wire.
Otherwise the front stationary element (1) must be replaced.
NOTES
Ensure that the outer edges of the front stationary element (1) are not damaged by the hot cutting wire.
Otherwise the front stationary element (1) must be replaced.
IMPORTANT Helper required.

10 Remove front stationary element (1)    
INSTALLING Install     
11 Prepare front stationary element (1) for installation Model 213 with code 413 (Panoramic sliding sunroof/glass roof) AR77.21-P-0803-02LWE
    Model 238.3 with code 413 (Panoramic sliding sunroof/glass roof)
NOTES
Before starting work, all components, materials and tools must be prepared for installing the front stationary element (1). Otherwise it may not be possible to maintain permissible processing and joining times.

12 Prepare body flange Model 213 with code 413 (Panoramic sliding sunroof/glass roof) AR77.21-P-0803-03LWE
    Model 238.3 with code 413 (Panoramic sliding sunroof/glass roof) AR77.21-P-0803-03LWO 
13 Apply adhesive to front stationary element (1) NOTES
Apply adhesive material within 25 min and position front stationary element (1) within the next 15 min on body flange on vehicle side and fix in place.
Otherwise the strength of the adhesive connection can be impaired and proper adhesion of the adhesive material is not ensured.

14 Install front stationary element (1) on body with aid of helper and align NOTES
Do not drive vehicle for 10 h after gluing in front stationary element (1).
Otherwise the strength of the adhesive connection can be impaired and proper adhesion of the adhesive material is not ensured.
IMPORTANT Observe distances of front stationary element (1) in relation to detachable parts before removal.
IMPORTANT Center front stationary element (1) between side roof panelings.

15 Remove duct tape    
16.1 Remove left and right drip rail (2) Model 213.0/1, 238.3 with code 413 (Panoramic sliding sunroof/glass roof)  
16.2 Install left and right roof railing Model 213.2 with code 413 (Panoramic sliding sunroof/glass roof)  
17 Close flexible glass element (3) of panoramic roof    
INSPECT Check     
18 Before initially driving the vehicle, ensure that bonded connection is cured using fabricated reference adhesive bead NOTES
Do not drive vehicle for 10 h after gluing in front stationary element (1).
Otherwise the strength of the adhesive connection can be impaired and proper adhesion of the adhesive material is not ensured.
 
19 After the adhesive bead is completely cured, remove weights from front stationary element (1) NOTES
Do not remove weights before reference adhesive bead is completely cured. Otherwise the strength of the adhesive connection can be impaired and proper adhesion of the adhesive material is not ensured.
 
20 Normalize panoramic sliding roof with diagnostic system and perform teach-in run for automatic reversing function
