Component Description For Sound System Amplifier Control Unit - GF82.62-P-5010FHA
Model 238
Up To Model Year 2021
With Code 811 (High-End sound system)
Shown On Model 238.3
Location
The sound system amplifier control unit is located in the trunk on the right behind the side paneling.
Tasks
The advanced sound system amplifier control unit has the following tasks:
- Speed-dependent volume control (SDV)
- Receive signals
- Signal optimization and amplification
- Transmitting signals
Speed-dependent volume control (SDV)
For the speed-dependent volume control (SDV), the sound system amplifier control unit evaluates the vehicle speed signal and the background noise recording via the driver-side hands-free system microphone (B25/20) and the front passenger-side hands-free system microphone (B25/21). The sound system amplifier control unit receives the signals via MOST from the head unit.
Receive signals
The advanced sound system amplifier control unit receives the following signals:
- Voltage supply
- Audio muting (mute function) from the HERMES control unit (N112/9) (with code 360 (HERMES UMTS) or with code 362 (HERMES LTE))
- Optical and electrical wake-up for Media Oriented System Transport (MOST)
- Control and audio signals via MOST from the following components:
- Head unit (A26/17)
- TV tuner control unit (N143) (with code 865 (TV tuner))
- With code B63 (Sporty engine sound): Control signals (e.g. engine rpm, engine load and vehicle speed) via the drive train CAN (CAN C1) from the ME-SFI control unit (N3/10)
Signal optimization and amplification
The advanced sound system amplifier control unit optimizes the input signals by means of digital signal processing and high-quality sound optimization algorithms (Surround Sound, Easy Listening, Live, 3D Sound). The advanced sound system amplifier control unit amplifies the input signals and assigns the output to the individual speakers.
The advanced sound system amplifier control unit support stereo and multi-channel entertainment channels and announcement channels (e.g. for voice outputs in the voice control system or navigation instructions)
In vehicles with code B63 (Sporty engine sound), the advanced sound system amplifier control unit with simulated sound components enhances the sound panorama in the vehicle interior with simulated sound components in order to optimize the engine and exhaust sound in the vehicle interior.

The advanced sound system amplifier control unit transmits electrical signals to the following components for the audio output:
- Left front footwell woofer (H4/42)
- Right front footwell woofer (H4/43)
- Left front door sound system tweeter (H4/68)
