IMPORTANT The next steps are shown on the left side of the vehicle. This must be similarly performed for damage to the right side of the vehicle. The superordinate service document as well as the safety information in the service document must be observed.

  1. Install rear fender (1) and fit.
  2. Install trunk lid.
  3. Install rear bumper.
  4. Install rear lamp.
  5. Install door seal.
  6. Install lock striker.
  7. Check gap dimensions with SPECIAL TOOL feeler gauge and adjust.
  8. Fix rear fender (1) in place.
  9. Remove lock striker.
  10. Remove door seal.
  11. Remove rear lamp.
  12. Remove rear bumper.
  13. Remove trunk lid.
  14. Drill rivet holes in rear fender (1) with Ø 6.7 mm (area A).
  15. Remove rear fender (1).
  16. Deburr rivet holes on rear fender (1) and on body.

  17. Apply sealant in cross-hatched areas on foam part and on body (areas B).
  18. Apply 2-component adhesive in cross-hatched areas on body (areas C).

    IMPORTANT Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces and the manufacturer's specifications for the curing and processing time of 2-component adhesive.

  19. Apply 2-component adhesive in cross-hatched areas on body (areas D).

    IMPORTANT Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces and the manufacturer's specifications for the curing and processing time of 2-component adhesive.

  20. Install rear fender (1) and fix in place.
  21. Rivet rear fender (1) with Ø 6.5x12.5 rivets (area E).

    IMPORTANT Clamping range is between 3.4 mm and 3.6 mm.

  22. Rear fender (1) POLARIZATION RESISTANCE SINGLE-ROW SPOT WELD (areas F1, F2, F3).

  25. Rear fender (1) POLARIZATION RESISTANCE SINGLE-ROW SPOT WELD (areas I).
  26. Rear fender (1) SHIELDED GAS SEAM WELD (area J).

    IMPORTANT Perform inert gas welding at intervals and allow welding area to cool down in between. This reduces the heat distortion.

  27. Surface-grind inert gas welds (area J).
  28. Apply body solder or basic body filler to surfaces on rear fender (1) and smoothen (area J).
  29. Remove body solder residues and/or grinding dust.
