Block diagram
ENERGIZING comfort control, general
The ENERGIZING comfort control system intelligently combines several individual functions in up to 7 programs, depending on the equipment installed. The function modes within a single program are aligned to a lead theme. To achieve this, the ENERGIZING comfort control system primarily makes use of function modes that exist within the individual functions.
The driver is able to select multiple interior functions by performing just a few steps through the programs.
The ENERGIZING comfort control system is intended to enhance stress-reducing safety for the driver. In monotone driving situations, the driver is supported by energizing programs, in emotionally stressful situations by relaxing programs.
The system is operated using the head unit multifunction steering wheel button group, the Audio/COMAND controller (with code 448 (Touchpad)) or the touchpad (with code 446 (Touchpad only)).
The ENERGIZING comfort control is integrated in the head unit. The head unit communicates with the following control units:
- Instrument cluster
- Audio/COMAND display
- Audio/COMAND control panel
- Touchpad
- Climate control control unit
- Electronic Stability Program control unit
- Driver seat control unit
- Front passenger seat control unit
- Left front multicontour seat control unit (with code 432 (Left and right dynamic multicontour seat))
- Right front multicontour seat control unit (with code 432 (Left and right dynamic multicontour seat))
- Left front door control unit
- Right front door control unit
- Left rear door control unit
- Right rear door control unit
- Overhead control panel control unit
- Electronic ignition switch control unit
- Steering column module control unit
- Powertrain control unit
- Ambiance illumination control unit
The ENERGIZING comfort control system includes the following programs:
- Freshness
- Vitality
- Training
- Warmth
- Joy
- Comfort
- PowerNap
The following functions are used in the programs:
- Ambient lighting (with code 891 (Premium ambient lighting))
- Massage (with code 432 (Left and right dynamic multicontour seat))
- Ionization/fragrancing (with code P21 (Air quality package))
- Panel heating (with code 906 (Front armrest heater), with code 443 (Steering wheel heater))
- Seat heating (with code 401 (seat climate control for driver and front passenger) or with code 432 (left and right dynamic multicontour seat) or with code 873 (seat heating for driver and front passenger)
- Screen animation
- Music/sound
Ambient lighting (with code 891 (Premium ambient lighting))
The ambient lighting function provides the brightness-adjustable illumination of all control elements as well as the illumination of the vehicle interior.
Massage (with code 432 (Left and right dynamic multicontour seat))
The massage function is a comfort function and helps the driver or front passenger to relax, particularly during longer trips. To implement the different massage programs, 14 individual massage bladders are located in the respective seat backrest, which can be inflated and deflated independently of one another.
The following massage programs can be selected:
- Hot relaxing massage for back
- Hot relaxing massage for shoulder
- Activating massage
- Classic massage
- Mobilizing massage
- Active workout
Ionization/fragrancing (with code P21 (Air quality package))
The ionization feature is used to clean and freshen the interior air. The ionization of the interior air itself is odor-neutral and cannot be detected directly as such in the vehicle.
During fragrancing, air is guided over the fragrance surface of the flacon in the glove compartment and enriched with scent molecules. This scented air is delivered directly into the vehicle interior through an opening in the diffuser grid (in front of the Audio/COMAND display) and diffuses throughout the vehicle.
Panel heating (with code 906 (Front armrest heater), with code 443 (Steering wheel heater))
The armrests in the doors, front center console and rear center console can be heated in three heating stages.
It is possible to heat the steering wheel rim using the steering wheel heater.
The seat heater enables the seat cushions and backrests to be heated in three heating levels.
Seat heating with code 401 (Seat climate control for driver and front passenger) or with code 432 (Left and right dynamic multicontour seat) or with code 873 (Seat heating for driver and front passenger)
The seat heating enables the seat cushions and seat backrests of the seats to be heated in three heating levels.
Screen animation
Different animations are shown in the Audio/COMAND display depending on the program that has been selected. The animations differ in their speed and colors.
Music/sound
Appropriate music is played to match the selected program. The predefined music tracks differ in speed.
