| 1 | Remove the camshaft positioner of the intake camshaft. | AR05.20-P-7206MSA | |
| 2 | Remove the chain tensioner. | AR05.10-P-7800MSA | |
| 3 | Remove screw (1). | ||
| 4 | Remove timing chain (3) from gearwheel (2), detach gearwheel (2) with the bearing journal from the cylinder head, and secure timing chain against falling down. | ||
| 5 | Remove bearing journal from gearwheel (2). | ||
| Check | |||
| 6 | Inspect the gear (2) and journal for scoring and galling and, if necessary, replace the relevant component. | ||
| Install | |||
| 7 | Wet the inner contact surface of the gear (2) with engine oil. | ||

| 8 | Install bearing journal in gearwheel (2). | ||
| 9 | Attach gearwheel (2) with bearing journal to cylinder head and position timing chain (3) on the gearwheel (2). | ||
| 10 | Tighten the screw (1) slightly by hand. | ||
