Remove/Install Camshaft Positioner Of Intake Camshaft - AR05.20-P-7206MSA

CAUTION Risk of injury  to skin and eyes due to handling of engine oil. Risk of poisoning  caused by swallowing engine oil Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses.
Do not fill engine oil into beverage containers.

REMOVING Remove     
1 Remove rear cover at cylinder head.   AR01.30-P-5702MSA
2 Move camshafts to basic position.   AR05.20-P-6010MSA 
3 Delimit intake camshaft positioner (1) and exhaust camshaft positioner (2) with intake camshaft locking pin (5a) and exhaust camshaft locking pin (5b). SPECIAL TOOL Assembly tool Fig 2
4 Remove intake camshaft control valve (3). SPECIAL TOOL Socket wrench bit Fig 4
5 Remove intake camshaft positioner (1). IMPORTANT The intake camshaft positioner (1) does not have a tensioning ring.
The compression wheel sits loose on the intake camshaft positioner (1) and is not a reason to replace the intake camshaft positioner (1).
 
INSTALLING Install     
6 Install intake camshaft positioner (1).    
7 Wet thread and bolt head contact surface of intake camshaft control valve (3) with engine oil.    
REFER TO CAPACITIES & SPECIFICATIONS Specified engine oils for Cars, Vans (service) - Overview   BB00.40-P-0223-02A
8 Tighten intake camshaft control valve (3). IMPORTANT Tighten intake camshaft control valve (3) evenly without discontinuity using the specific torque.  
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Central valve to camshaft positioner *BA05.10-P-1001-01MRT 
    SPECIAL TOOL Socket wrench bit Fig 4
9 Remove the camshaft's fixing device. SPECIAL TOOL Locating tool Fig 1
10 Remove intake camshaft locking pin (5a) and exhaust camshaft locking pin (5b). SPECIAL TOOL Assembly tool Fig 2
11 Turn engine in direction of engine rotation by two revolutions and set piston of cylinder 1 to ignition TDC. NOTES
Turn engine only in the direction of engine rotation.
Engine damage will occur otherwise.
IMPORTANT The TDC marking on the vibration damper must match with marking on crankcase.

12 Check basic position of camshafts.   AR05.20-P-6010MSA 
13 Install rear cap on cylinder head.   AR01.30-P-5702MSA
