Remove/Install Camshaft Positioner Of Exhaust Camshaft - AR05.20-P-7207MSA

Engine 256.9 in model 213, 238, 257, 290

CAUTION Risk of injury  to skin and eyes due to handling of engine oil. Risk of poisoning  caused by swallowing engine oil Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses.
Do not fill engine oil into beverage containers.

REMOVING Remove     
1 Remove rear cover at cylinder head.   AR01.30-P-5702MSA
2 Move camshafts to basic position.   AR05.20-P-6010MSA 
3 Mark exhaust camshaft, camshaft positioner (2) with exhaust camshaft locking pin (5b). SPECIAL TOOL Assembly tool Fig 2
4 Remove exhaust camshaft control valve (4). IMPORTANT The exhaust camshaft control valve (4) has left-hand thread.  
    SPECIAL TOOL Socket wrench bit Fig 4
5 Remove exhaust camshaft, camshaft positioner (2).    
INSTALLING Install     
6 Install exhaust camshaft, camshaft positioner (2).    
7 Tighten exhaust camshaft control valve (4).    
REFER TO CAPACITIES & SPECIFICATIONS Specified engine oils (service) - Overview IMPORTANT Wet thread and bolt head contact surface of the exhaust camshaft control valve (4) with engine oil.
Tighten exhaust camshaft control valve (4) evenly without discontinuity using the specified torque.
The exhaust camshaft control valve (4) has left-hand thread.

    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Central valve on camshaft positioner *BA05.10-P-1001-01MRT

8 Remove the camshaft's fixing device. SPECIAL TOOL Locating tool Fig 1
9 Remove exhaust camshaft locking pin (5b). SPECIAL TOOL Assembly tool Fig 2
10 Turn engine in the direction of engine rotation by two revolutions and set the cylinder 1 piston to ignition TDC. NOTES
Turn engine only in the direction of engine rotation.
Engine damage will occur otherwise.
IMPORTANT The TDC marking on the vibration damper must match with marking on crankcase.
 
    SPECIAL TOOL Counterholder Fig 3
11 Check basic position of camshafts.   AR05.20-P-6010MSA 
12 Install rear cap on cylinder head.   AR01.30-P-5702MSA
