We would like to inform you that the remote functions in the above mentioned model series can be restricted during the workshop visit when maintenance or repair work is conducted.
Operating principle
During activation, the telematics services communication module (N112/2) is shifted into a special operating mode in which data transfer and reception readiness is restricted as much as possible so that it is no longer possible to access vehicle data or vehicle functions using means of customer access (web & app). The last known vehicle operating state is shown.
The restriction of the remote functions is indicated in the instrument cluster display (A40/18) by a yellow warning message. The Mercedes me symbol including the tracking symbol (1) in the status bar of the central display is also deactivated, provided that the vehicle is linked. The emergency call function remains fully operational.
Availability
The remote functions are available as of NTG7 with the telematics services communications module (N112/2) (RAMSES 1.1) and they can only be activated and deactivated using the workshop menu in the instrument cluster display (A40/18).
Note for model 118, 167, 177, 243 and model 247 with Star2 architecture:
The restriction of remote functions in HERMES exhibits the following special features:
- Remote diagnosis readiness is only established after approx. 15 minutes when the ignition has been on and uninterrupted or during driving operation after the restriction of remote functions has been deactivated.
- If an emergency call is triggered while the restriction of remote functions is active, a fault message appears in the instrument cluster stating that the emergency call feature is not available. An emergency call, however, is still established and the full range of functions is available!
- If remote functions are activated or deactivated immediately after bus idle, there may be isolated cases in which the activation or deactivation does not work initially or is canceled if there is increased load of the diagnosis and HMI2-CAN or the HERMES control unit (N112/9). In this case, please wait 10 s - 15 s with the ignition switched on and try again.
