DANGER Risk Of Accident  When commissioning the vehicle due to a lack of braking effect when the service brake is operated for the first time after repair work. Before starting the engine, actuate brake pedal several times until pressure is built up and maintained in the brake system. AS42.50-Z-0002-01A 
WARNING Risk Of Injury.  Skin or eye injuries may result when handling hot or glowing objects. Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses, if necessary. AS00.00-Z-0002-01A
CAUTION Risk Of Poisoning  from swallowing brake fluid. Risk Of Injury  from skin and eye contact with brake fluid Only pour brake fluid into suitable and appropriately marked containers. Wear protective clothing and eye protection when handling brake fluid. AS42.50-Z-0001-01A

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/Install     
1 Open service flap above expansion reservoir for brake fluid.    
2 Clean area around cap on brake fluid expansion reservoir. Assembly cleaner *BR00.45-Z-1028-04A 
3 Unscrew cap on brake fluid expansion reservoir and suction off some brake fluid. IMPORTANT This prevents the expansion reservoir overflowing when the brake piston is pushed back.  
4 Remove front wheel and tire assemblies.   AR40.10-P-1102A
5 Expose electric line of front right brake lining wear sensor, then release and disconnect electrical connector. IMPORTANT Ensure electric line of front right brake lining wear sensor is routed correctly.  
6 Remove screw (6) and remove bracing (7). TORQUE SPECIFICATION Model 213 with code U70 (Red-Painted Brake Callipers) except code B06 (Silver Brake Calipers) except code B07 (AMG - Ceramic Brake System)

    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Model 205 with code U70 (Red-Painted Brake Callipers) except code B06 (Silver Brake Calipers) except code B07 (AMG - Ceramic Brake System) 6-piston fixed-caliper brake
Model 253 with code U70 (AMG High-Performance Composite Braking System) except code B06 (AMG High-Performance Braking System) except code B07 (AMG - Ceramic Brake System) 6-piston fixed-caliper brakeguide pin to brake caliper support or bolt for guide pin to brake caliper

7 Use punch to knock out bolts (5) and remove retaining spring (8). INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Installation: pound in bolt (5) up to end stop.
Check retaining spring (8) is correctly seated.
 
8 Press back brake pistons slightly using pusher tool. IMPORTANTSPECIAL TOOL Attach pusher tool to the elevations of the brake linings (3).

9 Remove brake pads (3). INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Only brake pads (3) approved by mercedes-benz may be installed, and only as complete sets.
Do not apply brake paste or lubricants to the brake linings (3) and brake calipers (1).
 
INSPECT Check     
10 Check bolt (5), bracing (7) and retaining spring (8) for damage and condition. If there is a problem,

Replace corresponding component.
 
11 Check brake pads (3) for wear and condition.

if there is a problem,

Replace brake pads (3).
IMPORTANT Replace brake pads (3) as a complete set only.

12 Check brake disk for wear and condition.

    If there is a problem,

Replace brake disks.
IMPORTANT Replace brake disks as a complete set only.

13 Check brake caliper (1) and dust boots of brake pistons for leak tightness and damage. If there is a problem,

Replace brake caliper (1).

14 Press back brake pistons with pusher tool. IMPORTANT Secure remaining brake pistons using two
SPECIAL TOOL Wedges against slipping out.

    If the brake pistons are sluggish,

Replace brake caliper (1).

CLEAN Clean     
15 Clean contact surfaces of brake linings (3) on brake caliper (1) and on brake pistons. NOTES Do not use sharp-edged or pointed objects. otherwise, the brake caliper (1) or the dust boots of the brake pistons can be damaged. assembly cleaner *BR00.45-Z-1028-04A 
16 Pull front right brake lining wear sensor out of backing plate of brake lining (3). When replacing brake lines (3) or when replacing front right brake lining wear sensor.
IMPORTANT Note installation position of right front brake lining wear sensor.
 
17 Install in the reverse order.    
  Concluding Tasks     
18 Operate brake pedal several times until the brake pads (3) make contact with the brake disks. IMPORTANT Firm resistance should be noticeable at the brake pedal.  
19 Check brake fluid level in expansion reservoir, correct, if necessary.
