MODIFICATION NOTES

19.10.2015 Disconnect electrical connectors at left front bumper pedestrian protection sensor (B151/1) and right front bumper pedestrian protection sensor (B151/3), added. Step 4

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
1 Remove front bumper (1). Model 172.4 as of 10/31/11 with code U60 (Pedestrian protection - Active hood) AR88.20-P-2000W
    Model 231 with code U60 (Pedestrian protection - Active hood) AR88.20-P-2000RK
2 Set down front bumper (1) on a suitable base    
3 Remove hose (4) from groove in impact absorber (3) INSTALLATION NOTES
Ensure that hose (4) is seated correctly in impact absorber (3). Hose (4) must be routed
without tension or kinks.
Malfunctions can occur otherwise.
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT The hose (4) must be seated as deeply as possible within the groove of the impact absorber (3) and have the same protrusion length at left and right.
 
4 Disconnect electrical connectors at left front bumper pedestrian protection sensor (B151/1) and right front bumper pedestrian protection sensor (B151/3)    
5 Remove left and right expansion rivet (2)    
6 Remove left front bumper pedestrian protection sensor (B151/1) and right front bumper pedestrian protection sensor (B151/3) together with hose (4) from front bumper (1) NOTES
Left front bumper pedestrian protection sensor (B151/1) and right front bumper pedestrian protection sensor (B151/3) must not be disconnected from hose (4). Malfunctions can occur otherwise.
 
7 Install in the reverse order
