Risk of injury  to skin and eyes suffering scalding from contact with hot coolantspray. Risk of poisoning  from swallowing coolant. Do not open cooling system unless coolant temperature is below 90°C. Open cap slowly and release the pressure. Do not pour coolant into beverage containers. Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses. AS20.00-Z-0001-01A

  Drain off     
1 Remove upper engine cover    
2 Unscrew cap (1)    
3 Remove front lower engine compartment paneling ENGINE 276.8 in model 172 AR61.20-P-1105W
    ENGINE 276.8 in model 231 AR61.20-P-1105RK
4 Push drain hose onto drain fitting (3) ENGINE 276.8 in model 172
ENGINE 276.8 in model 231 up to model year 2016
 
5.1 Open drain screw (4) and drain coolant into a suitable container ENGINE 276.8 in model 172
ENGINE 276.8 in model 231 up to model year 2016
 
5.2 Detach coolant hose (6) at charge air cooler circulation pump (5) and catch escaping coolant in a suitable container ENGINE 276.8 in model 231 as of model year 2016
SPECIAL TOOL Hose clamp pliers

  Pour in     
6.1 Close drain screw (4) and remove drain hose from drain fitting (3) ENGINE 276.8 in model 172

6.2 Mount coolant hose (6) on charge air cooler circulation pump (5) ENGINE 276.8 in model 231 as of model year 2016

7 Pour in coolant and bleed cooling system IMPORTANT Use clean coolant. AR20.00-P-1142-04A

8 Check low-temperature circuit for leaktightness   AR09.41-P-1010RKA 
Risk of accident  from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury  (bruises and burns) resulting from work on the engine while it is being started or when it is running. Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts. AS00.00-Z-0005-01A
9 Perform an engine test run and check cooling system for proper operation
