Location 

The tuner unit is located in the trunk behind the right side paneling.

Tasks 

Receive signals 

The tuner unit receives the input factors over the following connections:

Direct lines 

The tuner unit receives the signals from the following components over direct lines:

MOST 

The tuner unit communicates with the COMAND controller unit over MOST.

Processing signals

The tuner unit is shipped with a "B-CAS card". The "B-CAS card" is designed as a Subscriber Identification Module (SIM) card and inserted in the SIM card reader. The SIM card reader is covered with a seal.

From the 29.03.2017 onwards, TV broadcasts in Germany will no longer be broadcast in the DVB-T1 transmission standard. The DVB-T2 transmission standard will be launched. In Korea, a conversion will be made to the High-Definition-Digital Multimedia Broadcasting (HD-DMB) transmission standard in August 2017.

This is way, as from 01.03.2017 onwards, tuner units will be installed in Europe that can receive the DVB-T2 transmission standard. In Korea, HD-DMB tuner units are installed.

DVB-T2- or HD-DMB tuner units can be retrofitted without any problems. To receive encoded stations, in a vehicle for the German market, a CI module can be inserted into the card reader. The card reader is connected by a USB line to the tuner unit.

Transmitting signals 

The tuner unit sends initial parameters over the following connections:

LVDS (with code 865 (TV tuner)) 

The tuner unit sends video signals over the LVDS line to the COMAND controller unit.

MOST 

The tuner unit communicates with the COMAND controller unit over MOST.
