The telematics services communications module is located behind the front seats at the major assembly carrier on model 172.4.

Tasks

The telematics services communications module uses the diagnostic CAN (CAN D). The telematics services communications module makes it possible to receive real-time traffic data that can be processed by the navigation module of the COMAND controller unit (A40/3); The telematics services communications module fulfills the following tasks here:

Receiving and transmitting position data
Receiving and forwarding real time traffic data

Receiving and transmitting position data

The telematics services communication module receives position data via a USB (Universal Serial Bus) connection from the COMAND controller unit.

The telematics services communications module transmits the position data to the service provider via the emergency call antenna (A2/52).

The position data are needed for the real time traffic data service.

Receiving and forwarding real time traffic data

The telematics services communication module receives real time traffic data from the emergency call system antenna and forwards it via USB connection to the COMAND controller unit.
