Standing/Parking Lights Actuation, Function - GF82.10-P-3060RD
Model 172.4 up to model year 2017
Function requirements, general
- No overvoltage or undervoltage (operating voltage range U ≥ 7 ≤ 17.5 V)
Standing/parking lights, general
The standing/parking lights actuation serves to mark the parked vehicle in darkness.
The standing/parking lights actuation includes the following subfunctions:
- Standing lamp actuation function sequence
- Function sequence for lights on reminder warning
- Parking lights actuation function sequence
Standing lamp actuation function sequence
Turning the exterior lights switch (S1) to the "Standing lights" position requests actuation of the standing lights. The front SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1) reads in the status of the exterior lights switch directly (voltage-coded) and transmits the "Standing light ON" request via the interior CAN (CAN B) to the rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2). The front SAM control unit also transmits the "Standing light actuation active" status via the interior CAN to the instrument cluster (A1) which then switches on the scale illumination and, as of 01.06.2012, also actuates the standing light indicator lamp (A1e38).
The front SAM control unit actuates the following components directly:
- Left front lamp unit (E1)
- Left front standing light and parking light (E1e3)
- Left front side marker light (E1e6)
- Right front lamp unit (E2)
- Right front standing light and parking light (E2e3)
- Right front side marker lamp (E2e6)
The rear SAM control unit actuates the following components directly:
- Left rear lamp unit (E3)
- Inner left brake light and taillight (E3e10)
- Outer left brake light and taillight (E3e11)
- Left rear side marker light (E3e6) (with code 460 (Canada version) or code 494 (USA version))
- Right rear lamp unit (E4)
- Inner right brake light and taillight (E4e10)
- Outer right brake light and taillight (E4e11)
- Right rear side marker light (E4e6) (with code 460 (Canada version) or code 494 (USA version))
- Left license plate lamp (E19/1)
- Right license plate lamp (E19/2)
Additional function requirements for lights on reminder
- Standing lights ON
- Driver door OPEN
- Circuit 15C OFF
Function sequence for lights on reminder warning
The logic for requesting the lights on reminder function is stored in the front SAM control unit. The driver door status is transmitted by the left door control unit (N69/1) and the status of circuit 15 is transmitted by the electronic ignition lock control unit (N73) via the interior CAN. The front SAM control unit receives this information and from it generates the request for output of the lights on reminder function and transmits this to the instrument cluster via the interior CAN. The instrument cluster then actuates the warning buzzer (A1h1). The message "switch light off" appears in the multifunction display (A1p13) of the instrument cluster.
The standing lights may be switched on because the low beams have been manually switched on, because of the auto on/off driving lights or manually via the exterior lights switch. If the standing lights have been activated because of the manually activated low beams, the auto on/off driving lights or the daytime running lights and the driver door is then opened with circuit 15C ON, then the standing lights are switched off.
Parking lights actuation function sequence
By turning the exterior lights switch to the left parking lights position or the right parking lights position, the parking lights actuation is requested for the corresponding side of vehicle. The front SAM control unit reads in the status of the exterior lights switch and transmits the request to the rear SAM control unit via the interior CAN.
Left parking light:
The front SAM control unit actuates the following component:
- Left front lamp unit
- Left front standing and parking lamp
The rear SAM control unit actuates the following components:
- Left rear lamp unit
- Left rear side marker light (with code 460 (Canada version) or code 494 (USA version))
- Inner left stop lamp and ail lamp
- Outer left brake light and taillight
Right parking light:
The front SAM control unit actuates the following component:
- Right front lamp unit
- Right front standing and parking lamp
The rear SAM control unit actuates the following components:
- Right rear lamp unit
- Right rear side marker light (with code 460 (Canada version) or code 494 (USA version))
- Inner right brake light and taillight
- Outer right brake light and taillight
If the interior CAN is in "Bus idle" state, the parking lights actuation is stored in the rear SAM control unit until deactivation is requested by the front SAM control unit, even if this makes the on-board electrical system voltage collapse and the on-board electrical system battery (G1) is completely discharged.
