Remove/Install COMAND Controller Unit - AR82.85-P-1100LF

Model 217, 222 

up to Model year 2018

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
1 Connect diagnostic system and perform initial startup of COMAND controller unit (A40/3) When replacing the COMAND controller unit (A40/3).  
REFER TO SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEMS     AD00.00-P-2000-04B
2 Switch off ignition and keep transmitter key outside transmitter range (at least 2 m)    
3 Remove center console   AR68.20-P-2000LF
4 Loosen bolts (1) on locks (2) IMPORTANT Screws/bolts (1) remain on locks (2).  
5 Guide COMAND controller unit (A40/3) at locks (2) out of instrument panel    
6 Remove COMAND controller unit (A40/3) from locks (2) until black connector (3) and electrical connectors (4) are accessible INSTALLATION IMPORTANT : Insert retaining bolts (arrows A) of COMAND controller unit (A40/3) into the locks (2).  
7 Disconnect black connector (3) and electrical connectors (4) IMPORTANT The number of electrical connections (4) can vary depending on the equipment installed.  
8 Remove COMAND controller unit (A40/3) from vehicle    
9 Install in the reverse order
