General telematics services function requirements

General telematics services

For comfortable mobility planning on electric vehicles, the customer has the option of calling up vehicle data via the Internet and making settings via a vehicle-specific Web site, the "Vehicle Homepage". Position-dependent control and monitoring of the charging processes in particular are made possible by this. The "Vehicle Homepage" is made available by the service provider. The telematics services that can be performed via the "Vehicle Homepage" include the following functions, e.g.:

IMPORTANT A gradual expansion of the functional scope is planned.

The processing of the telematics services includes the following procedures:

Communication between vehicle and "Vehicle Homepage" via service provider

As soon as the user has successfully called up the "Vehicle Homepage", he/she can exchange data with the vehicle (e.g. call up information and make settings) via a mobile radio connection secured by the service provider.

The vehicle receives and transmits the signals via the following route:

IMPORTANT Model 222.163

up to model year 2017

with code 348 (Emergency call/assistant system)

except code 05U (Remote Online)

except code 06U (Mercedes connect me standard services)

Model 222.163

up to model year 2017

with code B57 (KOM Module battery charging)

except code 05U (Remote Online)

except code 06U (Mercedes connect me standard services)

In the event of a failure or poor reception of the multifunction antenna (e.g. defect due to rollover), the emergency call system control unit (with code 348 (Emergency call/assist system)) or the telematics services communications module (with code B57 (COM module battery level)) automatically sends and receives the signals via the left emergency call system antenna and the right emergency call system antenna by way of the emergency call system antenna splitter.

CAN communication between the emergency call system control unit and additional vehicle components

When data relating to the charging processes is exchanged, the emergency call system control unit (with code 348 (Emergency call/assist system)) or the telematics services communications module (with code B57 (Battery charge level COM MODULE)) communicates via the hybrid CAN with the power electronics control unit and the battery management system control unit.

During pre-entry climate control, the emergency call system control unit (with code 348 (Emergency call/assist system)) or the telematics services communications module (with code B57 (COM MODULE battery level)) exchanges data as follows:

Hybrid CAN →

Powertrain control unit Chassis FlexRay →

Electronic ignition lock control unit →

Interior CAN →

Climate control, control unit

The settings made in the "Vehicle Homepage" that are relevant for what is displayed in the instrument cluster are transmitted via the following route:

Emergency call system control unit (with code 348 (Emergency call/assist system)) or telematics services communications module (with code B57 (Battery charge level COM MODULE)) →

Hybrid CAN →

Powertrain control unit →

Chassis FlexRay →

Electronic ignition lock control unit →

User interface CAN →
