General telematics services function requirements
- Circuit 30t ON
- Transport mode not active
- The vehicle owner is registered and authorized at the Service Center.
- No prioritized service (emergency call (manual or automatic), MB information call, breakdown assistance) is activated.
General telematics services
For convenient mobility planning in hybrid vehicles, the customer has the option of interrogating vehicle data and making settings via a vehicle-specific website, the "Vehicle Homepage". Position-dependent control and monitoring of the charging processes in particular are made possible by this. The "Vehicle Homepage" is made available by the service provider. The telematics services that can be performed via the "Vehicle Homepage" include the following functions, e.g.:
- Display of the battery charge level and the estimated battery charging duration
- Configuration and illustration of the pre-entry climate control
- Illustration of the estimated range
- Illustration of driving profiles (evaluations and statistics)
A gradual expansion of the functional scope is planned.
The processing of the telematics services includes the following procedures:
- Communication between vehicle and "Vehicle Homepage" via service provider
- CAN communication between HERMES control unit and further vehicle components
Communication between vehicle and "Vehicle Homepage" via service provider
As soon as the user has successfully called up the "Vehicle Homepage", he can exchange data with the vehicle (e.g. request information and carry out settings) via a mobile telephone connection secured by the service provider. The vehicle receives and transmits the signals via the HERMES control unit and the following antenna connection:
Telephone antenna splitter →
Left emergency call system antenna (with code 360 (HERMES UMTS) or with code 362 (HERMES LTE)) or right emergency call system antenna (with code 362 (HERMES LTE)) and multifunction antenna (with code 360 (HERMES UMTS) or with code 362 (HERMES LTE))
Together with the left emergency call system antenna/right emergency call system antenna, the multifunction antenna forms transmission and reception diversity.
CAN communication between HERMES control unit and further vehicle components
During data exchange concerning the charging processes, the HERMES control unit communicates with the powertrain control unit via the hybrid CAN.
In the case of pre-entry climate control, the HERMES control unit exchanges data via the following route:
Hybrid CAN →
Powertrain control unit →
Chassis FlexRay →
Electronic ignition lock control unit →
Interior CAN →
Climate control, control unit
The settings undertaken using the "Vehicle Homepage", for which visualization via the instrument cluster is relevant, are transmitted via the following route:
HERMES control unit →
Hybrid CAN →
Powertrain control unit →
Chassis FlexRay →
Electronic ignition lock control unit →
User interface CAN →
