Location 

The telematics services communications module is located behind the rear seat backrest in the trunk on the control unit plate.

Tasks 

Receiving and transmitting position data 

The telematics services communications module uses the diagnostic CAN (CAN D).

The telematics services communications module receives position data from the COMAND controller unit (A40/3) via a Universal Serial Bus (USB) connection and sends the data over a direct line to the emergency call system antenna splitter (A2/25) with CODE 386 (Comfort telephony).

The telematics services communications module receives position data from the COMAND controller unit via a Universal Serial Bus (USB) connection and sends the data over a direct line to the emergency call system antenna splitter, except CODE 386 (Comfort telephony), up to 17.11.2013.

The telematics services communications module receives position data from the COMAND controller unit via a Universal Serial Bus (USB) connection and sends the data over a direct line to the multifunction antenna (A28/11), except CODE 386 (Comfort telephony), as of 18.11.2013.

IMPORTANT The position data is needed for the real time traffic data service and is sent to the service provider.

The telematics services communications module receives real-time traffic data from the emergency call system antenna splitter with CODE 386 (Comfort telephony) and routes the data over the USB connection to the COMAND controller unit.

The telematics services communications module receives real-time traffic data from the emergency call system antenna splitter, except CODE 386 (Comfort telephony), up to 17.11.2013 and routes the data over a USB connection to the COMAND controller unit.

The telematics services communications module receives real-time traffic data from the multifunction antenna, except CODE 386 (Comfort telephony), as of 18.11.2013 and routes them over a USB connection to the COMAND controller unit.
