REMOVING Remove     
1 Remove cover below left of instrument panel    
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR     AR68.10-P-1500LF
2 Remove side paneling of instrument panel at left    
3 Remove driver's seat    
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR     AR91.10-P-1000LF
4 Release fuse and relay module on driver's side    
5.1 Remove B-pillar trim at bottom left Model 222.0/1 as of model year 2018  
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR     AR68.30-P-4700LF
5.2 Remove lower right B-pillar trim Model 222.1 as of model year 2018  
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR     AR68.30-P-4700LF
6.1 Remove door sills at front left and right and remove adhesive Model 222.0/1 as of model year 2018  
Topical note  Notes on removing adhesive residues and foils on paint and metal surfaces with surface conditioning disks IMPORTANT The door sills at front left and right are no longer required. Use commercially available surface conditioning disk with dia. 100 mm. AH00.00-P-0013-01AK
6.2 Remove door sills at rear left and right and remove adhesive Model 222.1 as of model year 2018  
Topical note  Notes on removing adhesive residues and foils on paint and metal surfaces with surface conditioning disks IMPORTANT Left and right door sill moldings at rear are no longer required. Use commercially available surface conditioning disk with dia. 100 mm. AH00.00-P-0013-01AK
7 Fold back floor covering at front on front passenger side    
8 Release footrest at front on front passenger side and fold back    
9 Remove cover below right dashboard

10 Remove floor covering at front on driver's side    
11 Remove seat cushion at left in rear passenger compartment    
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR   Model 222.0/1 as of model year 2018 except code 223 (Electrically adjustable rear bench seat) except code 224 (Rear individual seat design) AR91.12-P-1020LF
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR   Model 222.0/1 as of model year 2018 with code 223 (Electrically adjustable rear bench seat)

12 Fold back floor covering in rear passenger compartment on driver's side    
INSTALLING Install     
13 Retrofit illuminated door sill molding control unit   AZ82.20-P-0005-05LFM 
    Binder Duotec® Pilz in Pilz Klett - with adhesive 32 *BR00.45-Z-1084-02A 
14.1 Install electrical wiring harness for illuminated door sill molding with Mercedes-Benz lettering at front Model 222.0 as of model year 2018  
Topical note  Notes on the use of paint scraping nuts on ground connections   AH00.19-P-1000-20A

    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Front passenger footwell frame floor assembly ground point *BA00.19-P-1037-01C 
14.2 Install electrical wiring harness for illuminated door sill molding with Mercedes-Benz lettering at front and rear Model 222.1 as of model year 2018

15.1 Retrofit illuminated door sill molding at front left (E17/47) and illuminated door sill molding at front right (E17/48) Model 222.0 as of model year 2018 AZ82.20-P-0005-10LFM 
    Cleaner *BR00.45-Z-1025-04A 
15.2 Retrofit illuminated door sill molding at front left (E17/47) and right (E17/48) as well as illuminated door sill molding at rear left (E17/51) and right (E17/52) Model 222.1 as of model year 2018 AZ82.20-P-0005-11LFM 
    Cleaner *BR00.45-Z-1025-04A 
16 Install driver seat    
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR     AR91.10-P-1000LF
INSPECT Check     
17 Carry out function check IMPORTANT Opening the corresponding front door switches on the illuminated door sill molding at front left (E17/47) or illuminated door sill molding at front right (E17/48). Opening the corresponding rear door switches on the illuminated door sill molding at rear left (E17/51) or the illuminated door sill molding at rear right (E17/52). Automatic shutoff takes place after approx. 5 min.  
INSTALLING Install     
18 Install remaining parts    
  Update Vehicle Documentation (VeDoc)     
19 Attach "Illuminated door sill moldings retrofitted as per AZ82.20-P-0005LFM" note under field organization text on design group 68 and design group 82
