Location
The Active Body Control, control unit is located on the front passenger footwell plate.
Tasks
The Active Body Control (ABC) control unit is responsible for the following:
- Reading in of signals
- Evaluation of input factors
- Actuation of components
Reading in of signals
The input factors are read in over the following connections:
- Direct line
- Suspension FlexRay (Flex E)
Direct line
The following signals are read in via a direct line:
- Circuit 31
- ABC pressure sensor (B4/5)
- Left front ABC pressure sensor (B4/8)
- Right front ABC pressure sensor (B4/9)
- Left rear ABC pressure sensor (B4/10)
- Right rear ABC pressure sensor (B4/11)
- Left rear level sensor (B22/7)
- Left front level sensor (B22/8)
- Right front level sensor (B22/9)
- Right rear level sensor (B22/10)
- Left front body acceleration sensor (B24/3)
- Right front body acceleration sensor (B24/4)
- Right rear body acceleration sensor (B24/6)
- ABC lateral acceleration sensor (B24/12)
Chassis FlexRay
The Active Body Control (ABC) control unit receives information from the following control units over chassis FlexRay:
- Electronic ignition lock control unit (N73)
- Electronic Stability Program control unit (N30/4)
- Steering column tube module control unit (N80)
- Stereo multifunction camera (A40/13)
The electronic ignition lock control unit receives signals from the following control units and forwards them to the Active Body Control, control unit:
- Left front door control unit (N69/1)
- Right front door control unit (N69/2)
- Left rear door control unit (N69/3)
- Right rear door control unit (N69/3)
- Audio/COMAND control panel (A40/9)
- Head unit (A26/17) (as of model year 2018)
Evaluation of input factors
The input factors that have been read in are evaluated by the integrated microprocessor and the affected components are then actuated.

Direct line
The following components are actuated via a direct line:
- ABC front axle valve unit (Y36/1)
- Left front suspension strut control valve (Y36/1y1)
- Left front suspension strut shutoff valve (Y36/1y2)
- Right front suspension strut control valve (Y36/1y3)
- Right front suspension strut shutoff valve (Y36/1y4)
- ABC rear axle valve unit (Y36/2)
- Left rear suspension strut control valve (Y36/2y1)
- Left rear suspension strut shutoff valve (Y36/2y2)
- Right rear suspension strut control valve (Y36/2y3)
- Right rear suspension strut shutoff valve (Y36/2y4)
- ABC throttle valve (Y86/1)
- ABC switchover valve (Y5)
Chassis FlexRay
All the information for requesting output of fault messages in the instrument cluster (A1) is transmitted by the Active Body Control, control unit to the electronic ignition lock control unit via chassis FlexRay. The electronic ignition lock control unit sends this information to the instrument cluster via the user interface CAN (CAN HMI).
The Active Body Control (ABC) control unit is configured automatically over chassis FlexRay (engine variants, model series variants, national variants and modification year variants).
