Disconnect/Connect Battery Ground Line - AR54.10-P-0003ME

DANGER Risk of fire  /risk of explosion due to short circuit and escaping oxyhydrogen gas. Risk of (burn) injury caused by caustic burns to eyes, skin and mucous membranes from battery electrolyte/mist, short circuit and arcing. Risk of poisoning  caused by swallowing battery electrolyte or absorption of lead through the skin or body orifices. Risk of death  due to voltage U >= 30 V AC and U >= 60 V DC. No fires, sparks, open flames, or smoking. Wear acid-resistant gloves, clothing, and glasses. Pour battery acid only into suitable and appropriately marked containers. AS54.10-Z-0001-01A

  Disconnect, connect     
1 Open hood and close charging cable connector of high-voltage on-board electrical system and wait 30 s until power-down is complete. Model 167.117/154/317/354  
    IMPORTANT If the charging cable connector is connected.  
2 Move driver's seat (1) to foremost and uppermost position and set seat backrest to vertical.    
3 Switch off ignition and store transmitter key outside of transmission range (min. 2 m).    
4 Disconnect charger of on-board electrical system battery (G1). When an external charger is connected.  
5 Disconnect diagnostic unit. If a diagnostic device is connected.  
REFER TO SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEMS     AD00.00-P-2000-06ME
6 Remove cover (2).    
7 Loosen nut (3), remove battery sensor (B95) with ground line from negative pole of onboard electrical system battery (G1) and place to one side. IMPORTANT The 48 V on-board electrical system switches off 12 V on-board electrical system support 10 s after disconnecting the ground line (3).  
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Battery sensor to negative battery terminal *BA54.10-P-1005-01L 
8 Check on-board electrical system for voltage between positive line of on-board electrical system battery (G1) and disconnected ground line using a diode test lamp. Model 167.117/154/317/354  
    If the diode test lamp lights up,

Detach ground line from additional battery and check the on-board electrical system after completing the work.

9 Connect in reverse order.    
10 Check clock display. If the time is not correct.

set proper time.
