| 1 | Open hood and close charging cable connector of high-voltage on-board electrical system and wait 30 s until power-down is complete. | Model 167.117/154/317/354 | |
| 2 | Move driver's seat (1) to foremost and uppermost position and set seat backrest to vertical. | ||
| 3 | Switch off ignition and store transmitter key outside of transmission range (min. 2 m). | ||
| 4 | Disconnect charger of on-board electrical system battery (G1). | When an external charger is connected. | |
| 5 | Disconnect diagnostic unit. | If a diagnostic device is connected. | |

| 7 | Loosen nut (3), remove battery sensor (B95) with ground line from negative pole of onboard electrical system battery (G1) and place to one side. | ||
