Location
The Audio/COMAND® control panel is located on the center console.
Tasks
The Audio/COMAND® control panel is the central control for the telematics functions. With the Audio/COMAND® control panel, the functions that can be displayed on the Audio/COMAND® display (A40/8) can be operated. In the process, the Audio/COMAND® control panel performs the following tasks individually:
- Operation of telematics functions
- Receiving signals
- Sending signals
Operation of telematics functions
The Audio/COMAND® control panel in its role as central control includes the Audio/COMAND® controller which when tilted, pressed and rotated enables navigation in menus and lists, the selection of display-generated buttons (softkeys) and the input of characters. The "Back" button and the "Home" and "Favorites" buttons support menu navigation. Using the "Back" button, you can switch to the last display with a short press and switch to the main menu with a long press. The "Home" and "Favorite" button can be used to call up the main menu and the functions saved as favorites.
Receiving signals
The Audio/COMAND® control panel receives the following signals:
- Control signals of lower control panel at left, lower control panel at right and upper control panel control unit (N72/1) over LCP-LIN (LIN A3)
- Control signals of the off-road operating panel (Model 253.9 with code 430 (Off-road package)) via a direct line
- CAN messages via telematics CAN (CAN A)
Sending signals
The Audio/COMAND® control panel sends the following signals:
- Own control signals and control signal of the left lower control panel, the right lower control panel, the upper control panel control unit and the off-road operating panel via telematics CAN to the head unit (A26/17)
