Deburr repair panels.

REMOVING Remove     
WARNING Risk of injury  due to snapping or warming up of cutting wire and due to splinters when cutting out glued panoramic roofs Wear cut-proof gloves and safety glasses. AS77.21-Z-0002-01A 
1 Determine gap dimension between fixed element (1) and front panoramic roof and note down. Model 205.0/1

5.1 Detach roof lining and remove from vehicle through body shell aperture for rear window (2) with aid of helper. Model 205.0/1

IMPORTANT Do not remove front seats and center console.

5.2 Detach roof lining and remove from vehicle through tailgate opening with aid of helper. Model 205.2, 253

6 Remove rear roller sunblind (4).   AR77.21-P-0201NKX 
7 Detach ground line of on-board electrical system battery.   AR54.10-P-0003LW
8 Disconnect electrical connector (5) at left and right window airbag unit (6). SPECIAL TOOL Removal lever Fig 4
9 Remove screw (7) at left and right window airbag unit (6).    
10 Carefully push left and right window airbag unit (6) forward and guide out of mount (9) at side roof frame at bolt (8).    
11 Remove left and right rear grab handle mount (10).    
12.1 Remove left and right rear roof rack mount (11). Model 205.0/1

12.2 Remove screws (23) at left and right side of fixed element (1). Model 205.2, 253

13 Pierce rear adhesive bead (12) with pull-in device (13), as shown, at rear left or right corner of fixed element (1) and guide cutting wire (14) into vehicle interior. IMPORTANT Helper required.
IMPORTANT Clearance (a): 30 mm
 
14 Mask off adjacent paint surfaces with protective covers (15) and cut through rear adhesive beads (12) with aid of helper. NOTES
While cutting protect adjacent paint surfaces with SPECIAL TOOL shields (15) against damage.
Otherwise the paint can be damaged.
IMPORTANT The profiling at the rear roof frame makes it difficult to cut through the rear adhesive beads (12), because the cutting wire (14) runs directly on the sheet metal flange.

15 Pierce (arrow E) front adhesive bead (16) with pull-in device (13), as shown, at front left or right corner of fixed element (1) and guide cutting wire (14) into vehicle interior. IMPORTANT Helper required.  
16 Cover adjacent paint surfaces with protective covers (15). NOTES
While cutting protect adjacent paint surfaces with SPECIAL TOOL shields (15) against damage.
Otherwise the paint can be damaged.

17 Cover seal (17) with suitable cut protection (18) and cut through front adhesive bead (16) with aid of helper. NOTES
Protect seal (17) against damage with suitable cut protector (18) while cutting.
Seal (17) can otherwise be damaged.
 
18 Cut off and remove protruding adhesive material in area of left and right reinforcement (19) so that front panel edge (arrow C) of reinforcement (19) is exposed. IMPORTANT So that the cutting wire (14) can run under the left and right reinforcement (19) when cutting through adhesive bead (20) on left and right sides.  
19 Cover adjacent paint surfaces in cutting area with protective covers (15). NOTES
Protect adjacent paint surfaces in cutting area with SPECIAL TOOL protective covers (15) against damage.
Otherwise the paint can be damaged.

20 Position (arrows D) cutting wire (14), as shown, on fixed element (1) and simultaneously cut through left and right side adhesive bead (20) with aid of helper. IMPORTANT When starting to cut through, ensure that cutting wire (14) is not drawn in between left and right reinforcement (19) and frame of fixed element (1), rather runs underneath left and right reinforcement (19).  
21 Attach cup suction tools to outside of fixed element (1).    
22 Remove fixed element (1) from body with aid of helper. IMPORTANT Replace the fixed element (1).  
INSTALLING Install     
23 Mask off seal (17) with suitable fabric tape.    
24 Prepare new fixed element (1) for installation.   AR77.21-P-0600-02CW 
25 Prepare body flange of fixed element (1).   AR77.21-P-0600-07NKX 
26 Apply adhesive material for fixed element (1).   AR77.21-P-0800-03LF 
REFER TO SPECIAL TOOLS 000 588 00 72 00 Sealing and corrosion protection gun   WS97.00-P-0001B
27 Mount and align fixed element (1) on body with aid of helper. NOTES
When mounting fixed element (1), ensure that rear roller sunblind (4) does not come into contact with adhesive material.
Otherwise it is necessary to replace the rear roller sun blind (4), because dirt caused by the adhesive cannot be removed completely.
IMPORTANT Model 205.0/1

Observe gap dimension between fixed element (1) and front panoramic roof determined before removal and gap dimension (A).

Observe gap dimension (B) determined before removal.
IMPORTANT Center fixed element (1) between side roof panelings.

TORQUE SPECIFICATION Nut, roof carrier mount

28.2 Tighten screw (23) at left and right side of fixed element (1). Model 205.2, 253

29 Load fixed element (1) in rear area with area-measured weights. NOTES
To load fixed element (1), only use area-measured weights, e.g. sandbags.
Fixed element (1) can otherwise be damaged.
NOTES
Once the fixed element has been glued in (1), do not move the vehicle for at least 10 h.
The strength of the adhesively bonded connection is otherwise impaired and the required adhesion of the adhesive material is not ensured.
 
30 Push left and right roller sunblind bearings (4.1) of rear roller sunblind (4) toward front until both roller sunblind bearings (4.1) fully engage in respective roller sunblind guide rail (4.2). NOTES
Ensure that the catch hooks (4.3) arrest correctly in front cutouts (4.4).
Otherwise a teach-in run for the automatic reversing panoramic sliding roof reversing function is not possible later.
IMPORTANT Rear roller sunblind (4) is located on new fixed element (1) in assembly position and is thus moved to end position.
 
31 Install left and right guide tube for roller sunblind drive cable (21).   AR77.21-P-0232NKX 
32 Install left and right rear grab handle mount (10).    
33 Insert left and right window airbag unit (6) with bolt (8) into mount (9) at side roof frame.    
34 Tighten screw (7) at left and right window airbag unit (6). TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt, holder for windowbag gas generator to A-pillar/roof frame *BA91.60-P-1004-01O 
35 Connect electrical connector (5) at left and right window airbag unit (6).    
36.1 With aid of helper, place roof lining in vehicle through body shell aperture for rear window (2) and install. Model 205.0/1

36.2 With aid of helper, place roof lining in vehicle through tailgate opening and install. Model 205.2, 253

37 Install rear window (2). Model 205.0/1

38.2 Install left and right roof railing. Model 205.2, 253.9

39 Connect ground line of on-board electrical system battery.   AR54.10-P-0003LW
40 Remove weights for loading fixed element (1).    
41 Normalize panoramic sliding sunroof using vehicle diagnosis system and perform teach-in run for automatic reversing function.

CLEAN Clean     
42 Clean working area.
