Remove/Install Air Suspension Compressor - AR32.22-P-2001MNE

Model 213.088/089/288/289 with code 489 (AIRMATIC Dual Control/semi-active air suspension)

CAUTION Risk of injury  caused by scraping or cutting body parts on sharp vehicle parts Always wear protective gloves when working on or near sharp and non-deburred vehicle parts.
Deburr repair panels.

REMOVING Remove     
1 Raise vehicle.   AR00.60-P-1002LWG
2 Remove nuts (1) and remove cover (2).    
3 Extend heat shield (3) out of stud bolts and push to one side.    
4 Disconnect electrical connections (4).    
5 Separate cable ties (5) and place electric lines to one side.    
6 Remove pressure line connection (6) from AIR BODY CONTROL compressor (A9/1) and seal openings using suitable stop plugs. SPECIAL TOOL Record plug Fig 4
7 Unclip pressure line (14) from holder (15).    
8 Unscrew nuts (7) and remove AIR BODY CONTROL compressor (A9/1) downwards.    
9 Unclip air intake hose (11) at holder (16). When replacing AIR BODY CONTROL compressor (A9/1).  
10 Remove air intake hose (11) from AIR BODY CONTROL compressor (A9/1). When replacing AIR BODY CONTROL compressor (A9/1).  
11 Remove holders (15, 16) from AIR BODY CONTROL compressor (A9/1). When replacing AIR BODY CONTROL compressor (A9/1).  
INSPECT Check     
12 Check holder (10) and threaded rods (8) for damage. If there are problems with the holder (10) or threaded rods (8),

replace holder (10).

13 Check elastomer bearings (12) for damage and wear. If there is a problem,

replace elastomer bearings (12).

INSTALLING Install     
14 Mount holders (15, 16) onto AIR BODY CONTROL compressor (A9/1). When replacing AIR BODY CONTROL compressor (A9/1).  
15 Attach air intake hose (11) to AIR BODY CONTROL compressor (A9/1). When replacing AIR BODY CONTROL compressor (A9/1).  
16 Clip air intake hose (11) onto holder (16). When replacing AIR BODY CONTROL compressor (A9/1).  
17 Place washers (9) onto elastomer bearings (12).    
18 Fit compression springs (17) onto protective sleeves (13).    
19 Position protective sleeves (13) with compression springs (17) into elastomer bearings (12).    
20 Position AIR BODY CONTROL compressor (A9/1) and tighten nuts (7). TORQUE SPECIFICATION Nut, compressor mounting to compressor *BA32.22-P-1001-03H 
21 Clip pressure line (14) into holder (15).    
22 Remove all stop plugs.    
23 Attach pressure line connection (6) to AIR BODY CONTROL compressor (A9/1). NOTES The thread on pressure line connection (6) must not be damaged.
Otherwise, leaks will occur.
 
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Pressure line to compressor/valve unit (P) *BA32.22-P-1004-03H 
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Torque tool set Fig 5
    SPECIAL TOOL Torque wrench Fig 2
    If thread is damaged,

Repair pressure line connection (6).

    SPECIAL TOOL Knife Fig 3
24 Attach new cable ties (5).    
25 Contact electrical connectors (4).    
26 Replace AIR BODY CONTROL relay. Assignment of engine fuse and relay module When replacing AIR BODY CONTROL compressor (A9/1).  
REFER TO BASIC KNOWLEDGE Model 213.088/089/288/289 up to model year 2021 with code 489 (AIRMATIC Dual Control/semi-active air suspension)   GF54.15-P-1256-32FG
INSPECT Check     
WARNING Risk of accident  from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury  (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running. Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts. AS00.00-Z-0005-01A
27 Perform an engine test run and check air suspension for proper operation.    
28 Check all compressed-air connections at AIR BODY CONTROL compressor (A9/1) for leak tightness.   AR32.22-P-8100LW 
INSTALLING Install     
29 Move heat shield (3) into stud bolts.    
30 Position cover (2) and tighten nuts (1).    
31 Lower vehicle fully.   AR00.60-P-1002LWG
