CAUTION Risk of injury  caused by scraping or cutting body parts on sharp vehicle parts Always wear protective gloves when working on or near sharp and non-deburred vehicle parts.
Deburr repair panels.

REMOVING Remove     
1 Switch off ignition and store transmitter key outside of transmission range (min. 2 m)    
2 Remove right catalytic converter (2)   AR49.10-P-5503MND
3 Remove oxygen sensor downstream of catalytic converter (7) SPECIAL TOOL Box wrench bit Fig 2
4 Cover the sensor tip of the oxygen sensor downstream of CAT (7) with a protective cover When reusing the oxygen sensor downstream of CAT (7).  
    SPECIAL TOOL Set of protective caps Fig 3
5 Seal threaded hole of oxygen sensor downstream of CAT (7) IMPORTANTCommercially available devices/tools  Oxygen sensor screw plug threaded hole M18x1, 5 mm  
INSTALLING Install     
6 Remove the protective cover on the sensor tip of the oxygen sensor downstream of CAT (7) When reusing the oxygen sensor downstream of CAT (7).  
    SPECIAL TOOL Set of protective caps Fig 3
7 Coat thread on oxygen sensor downstream of CAT (7) with heat-resistant lubricant When reusing the oxygen sensor downstream of CAT (7).  
    Paste, hot lubrication 1 kg, DBL 6879.20 *BR00.45-Z-1005-06A 
8 Remove screw plug from threaded hole of oxygen sensor downstream of CAT (7) IMPORTANTCommercially available devices/tools  Oxygen sensor screw plug threaded hole M18x1, 5 mm  
9 Screw in oxygen sensor downstream of catalytic converter (7)
Note on calculation of tightening torque when using insertion or socket tools with various effective lengths

    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Oxygen sensor to catalytic converter *BA14.00-P-1002-01A 
    SPECIAL TOOL Box wrench bit Fig 2
10 Install right catalytic converter (2)   AR49.10-P-5503MND
INSPECT Check     
WARNING Risk of accident  from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury  (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running. Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear buttoned-up and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts. AS00.00-Z-0005-01A
11 Carry out an engine test run and check exhaust system for leaktightness    
12 Read out and erase fault memory
