REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
1 Disconnect ground line from on-board electrical system battery. Model 118, 177, 247 with code U60 (Pedestrian protection - Active hood) AR54.10-P-0003MFA
2 Remove screws (1). INSTALLATION IMPORTANT : Only tighten screws (1) after adjusting gap dimensions.  
3 Remove screws (2)    
4 Remove Mercedes star. Model 118, 177, 247 with code 233 (Adaptive cruise control Plus (DISTRONIC PLUS)) AR88.40-P-4053MFA 
5 Disconnect electrical connector of the longrange radar sensor. Model 118, 177, 247 with code 233 (Adaptive cruise control Plus (DISTRONIC PLUS))  
6 Release retaining clip of the electrical wiring harness from the bracket of the long-range radar sensor. Model 118, 177, 247.0 with code 233 (Adaptive cruise control Plus (DISTRONIC PLUS))  
7 Lift vehicle with lifting platform.   AR00.60-P-1006A
8 Remove expansion rivets (6). IMPORTANT The number can vary depending on the model and equipment.  
9 Remove screws (11). IMPORTANT The number can vary depending on the model and equipment. Instead of outer screws (11), expansion rivets may be installed depending on the model and equipment.  
10 Remove bolts (4).    
11 Remove covers (12, 13).    
12 Remove screw/bolts (3). IMPORTANT Instead of screws (3), different numbers of expansion rivets may be installed depending on the model and equipment.  
13 Release the front right and left fender liner until the electrical connectors (7, 8) of the retaining clip (9) and the screws (10) are accessible. IMPORTANT The number can vary depending on the model and equipment. AR88.10-P-1301MFA 
14 Release and disconnect electrical connector (7) of the outside temperature sensor.    
15 Remove screws (10).    
16 Unclip retaining clip (9) from the bumper (20). SPECIAL TOOL Dismantling tool Fig 2
17 Release and disconnect electrical connector (8). IMPORTANT The number can vary depending on the model and equipment.  
18 Release the left and right wheel arch liner in the area of the bumper (20). Model 247.6/7  
19 Remove bumper (20). IMPORTANT Helper required.  
INSPECT Check     
20 Check impact absorber for damage.    
Notice  General information on the impact absorber If damage is present, ↓ Replace impact absorber. AH88.20-P-1000-01A 
21 Check front right bumper pedestrian protection sensor and front left bumper pedestrian protection sensor at the clearly visible points for damage in the installed state. Model 118, 177, 247 with code U60 (Pedestrian protection - Active hood)  
Notice  Notes on pedestrian protection sensor   AH91.60-P-0001-01A
    If damage is present,

replace front right bumper pedestrian protection sensor and front left bumper pedestrian protection sensor.

22 Install in the reverse order.    
23 Check gap dimensions on the bumper (20) and adjust if necessary. Model 118 AR60.00-P-0700-01MFC

24 Tighten screws (1).    
25 Calibrate front 360° camera with diagnostic system. Model 118, 177, 247 with code 501 (360° camera)  
REFER TO SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEMS     AD00.00-P-2000-06MFA
26 Calibrate short and long-range radar sensor with the diagnostic system. Model 118, 177, 247 with code 239 (Adaptive cruise control Pro (DISTRONIC PRO))
Model 118, 177, 247 with code 258 (Active Brake Assist System)
