  Risk of fire  due to ignition of R1234yf refrigerant on hot components. Risk of poisoning  caused by inhaling overheated refrigerant vapors. Risk of injury  to skin and eyes caused by contact with escaped R1234yf refrigerant and when working on pressurized parts. Risk of explosion  due to formation of ignitable refrigerant/air mixtures Never perform welding work on or near a closed air conditioning system. No smoking or open flames. Wear safety glasses and protective gloves. Work only in well ventilated rooms. Carry out repair work on the air conditioning system circuit only after the system has been evacuated. 1 Read out Vehicle Documentation (VeDoc) and check code entries. Model 910 with engine 780.703
IMPORTANT The vehicle interior shutoff valve can be installed in the "NO" version or in the "NC" version.
If code OB0 (NO SHUTOFF VALVE) is present in VeDoc, ↓ remove code OB0 (NO SHUTOFF VALVE).
IMPORTANT Codes can only be removed in VeDoc by a user with write permission.
 
REMOVING Remove

  Analyze     
3 Detach cover caps from high-pressure line test and filler connection (1) and from low-pressure line test and filler connection (2). Video: Drain, evacuate and refill air conditioning and check for proper operation and leak tightness  
4 Connect respective air conditioning service unit.

5 Analyze refrigerant in air conditioning system. Model 907 with code HX1 (Refrigerant R-1234yf)
IMPORTANT Perform the refrigerant analysis using an analysis device integrated into the air conditioning service unit or an external analysis device with data transfer to the air conditioning service unit.
IMPORTANT The gas analysis is deemed positive if the refrigerant has a degree of purity of at least 98.5 %.
If there is a positive gas analysis: ↓ extract refrigerant from air conditioning system into internal container of air conditioning service unit.
If there is a negative gas analysis: ↓ Repeat gas analysis.
IMPORTANT The gas analysis must be performed up to 3 times. After a third negative gas analysis, the analysis device must be verified in accordance with the operator's manual. If the analysis device is functioning and there is a negative gas analysis: ↓ Extract contaminated refrigerant from air conditioning system into a recycling cylinder.
 
  Drain and evacuate     
6 Mount charger.   AR54.10-D-1127TS
7 Open vehicle interior shutoff valve using diagnostic system.    
REFER TO SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEMS   IMPORTANT Do not yet remove vehicle diagnosis system.
If vehicle interior shutoff valve cannot be opened using diagnostic system: ↓ Actuate vehicle interior shutoff valve separately with 12 V.
IMPORTANT To do so, disconnect electrical connector and use suitable adapter cables for MQS contacts.

8 Empty air conditioning system using the air conditioning service unit. IMPORTANT Model 907 with code HX1 (Refrigerant R-1234yf) Extract refrigerant according to result of gas analysis.
IMPORTANT Document amount suctioned off of compressor oil.
 
INSPECT Check     
9.1 Check refrigerant reservoir for re-usability. Model 907 with engine 274, 642, 651 If fluid reservoir cannot be reused, ↓ Replace the fluid reservoir. Remove/install fluid reservoir AR83.30-D-6520TSR 
Model 907.1/2/6 with engine 654.9
If receiver drier cannot be reused, ↓ Replace drier cartridge.

10 Replace vehicle interior shutoff valve. * only for Europe and if code OB0 (NO SHUTOFF VALVE) was present in VeDoc.
IMPORTANT Vehicle interior shutoff valve in "NO" version must be replaced by a vehicle interior shutoff valve in "NC" version.

11 Open vehicle interior shutoff valve using diagnostic system.  
If vehicle interior shutoff valve was replaced.
 
REFER TO SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEMS Connect/disconnect diagnostic unit IMPORTANT Do not yet remove vehicle diagnosis system.
If vehicle interior shutoff valve cannot be opened using diagnostic system, ↓ actuate vehicle interior shutoff valve separately with 12 V.

12 Clean refrigerant with air conditioning service unit and evacuate refrigerant circuit.    
13 Conduct vacuum test using air conditioning service unit. IMPORTANT If the air conditioning service unit shows a fault message, then this is an indication that there is a leak in the refrigerant circuit. If the air conditioning service unit shows a fault message, ↓ Check air conditioning system for leakage. AR83.30-D-1761TS 
  Filling     
14 Add new compressor oil to the refrigerant circuit according to the oil filling capacity noted during extraction. NOTES
Use approved compressor oil only.
If it is proven that a different compressor oil has been used, we will refuse to reimburse costs within the warranty and goodwill period.
Daimler AG reserves the right to perform reexaminations.
NOTES
Correct compressor oil in refrigerant circuit. Otherwise, a wrongly measured oil filling capacity could damage the refrigerant compressor.
NOTES
If the refrigerant compressor is to be replaced, no additional oil may be added. Otherwise, this may lead to malfunction or damage of the air conditioning system.
IMPORTANT Depending on the repair case, the oil filling quantity may need to be adjusted accordingly.

16 Conduct pressure test using air conditioning service unit. If the pressure drops during the pressure test.

Check air conditioning system for leakage.

19 Attach cover caps to high-pressure line test and filler connection (1) and to low-pressure line test and filler connection (2).
