We hereby inform you about current changes to the Specifications for Operating Fluids.
5-speed automatic transmission 722.6:
Only transmission oil as per Specifications for Operating Fluids Sheet 236.14 may be used.
Exception:
Transmission 722.6 may not be filled with FE-ATF 134 and ATF D97.
7-speed automatic transmission 722.9:
Only transmission oil as per Specifications for Operating Fluids Sheet 236.15 may be used.
The following control features and information must be observed to ensure that 7-speed automatic transmission 722.9 is filled correctly: In XENTRY diagnostics a message is displayed referring to the specified transmission oil before reading out the oil level check. The documentation of the filling process is available in the WIS (see AP27.00-D-2702TS
for model 907).
Separate filling units must be used for all oils (236.14, 236.15). These oils must never be mixed with other oils.
Exception:
Transmission 722.6/9, including electrohydraulic controller units and torque converter, which are available from the parts service, are filled at the production plant exclusively with FE ATF-134. It is therefore possible that these parts have residual traces of FE ATF-134. In this case, the transmission, controller unit and torque converter do not have to be cleaned. The transmission can be filled with the corresponding gear oil (as per this Service Information bulletin) immediately after it has been installed.
