CAUTION Risk of injury  to skin and eyes due to handling of transmission oil. Health risk caused by swallowing transmission oil Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses.

REMOVING Remove     
1 Fasten transmission onto assembly stand.   AR27.10-P-0600-01EWM 
REFER TO SPECIAL TOOLS 000 588 00 31 00 Assembly stand for cars IMPORTANTCommercially available devices/tools

2 Unscrew quick-release fastener and collect transmission oil in a suitable container. SPECIAL TOOL Assembly tool Fig 5
3.1 Remove torque converter. Transmission 725.0 (except 725.007/017/037/047/06/091/096/099)  
      AR27.20-P-0050EWM

3.2 Remove wet clutch. Transmission 725.06/103/163/164, 725.09 (except 725.095)  
    Transmission 725.164 in model 206 with engine 139 AR27.51-P-0300WTF
    Transmission 725.06/163, 725.09 (except 725.095) AR27.51-P-0300MNE
    Transmission 725.103 in model 232 with engine 139 AR27.51-P-0300SLX
4 Remove radial shaft sealing ring (4). Transmission 725.0 (except 725.007/017/037/047/06/09) AR27.40-P-0300EWM

5 Remove screws (2, 5).    
6 Remove transmission firewall cover (3). NOTES Carefully pry off transmission firewall cover (3) at lugs only (arrows).
Otherwise the sealing surfaces will be damaged.		  
7 Remove drive gear (7), chain (8) and oil pump gear (9) together.    
8 Remove seal (6).    
9 Clean sealing surfaces on transmission firewall cover (3) and transmission housing (1).
Otherwise, the transmission may be damaged.		 NOTES When cleaning, make sure that dirt particles do not enter the transmission.  
    Assembly cleaner *BR00.45-Z-1028-04A 
10 Remove oil pump (10) from transmission housing (1).   AR27.10-P-0400-02EWM

INSTALLING Install     
11 Check O-rings of the oil pump (10) for damage. If there is damage to the O-rings:
↓
replace oil pump (10).		  
12 Install oil pump (10) into transmission housing (1).   AR27.10-P-0400-02EWM

13 Slide on drive gear (7), chain (8) and oil pump gear (9) together. NOTES Check that chain (8) is correctly seated on drive gear (7) and oil pump gear (9).
Otherwise mounting problems may occur.		  
14 Mount new seal (6).    
15 Install transmission firewall cover (3).    
16 Tighten screws (2, 5). TORQUE SPECIFICATION Screw/Bolt, firewall cover to transmission housing *BA27.10-P-1005-04H 
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION E3 Screw/Bolt, firewall cover to external plate carrier *BA27.10-P-1006-04H 
17 Install new radial shaft sealing ring (4). Transmission 725.0 (except 725.007/017/037/047/06/09) AR27.40-P-0300EWM
    Transmission 725.06/09 AR27.40-P-0300MNE
    Transmission 725.103/163/164  
18.1 Install torque converter. Transmission 725.0 (except 725.007/017/037/047/06/091/096/099)  
      AR27.20-P-0050EWM 
    Grease, silicone-based, 100 g *BR00.45-Z-1008-06A

18.2 Install wet clutch. Transmission 725.06/103/163/164, 725.09 (except 725.095)

    Transmission 725.103 in model 232 with engine 139 AR27.51-P-0300SLX
19 Screw in quick-release fastener of oil pan. IMPORTANT Replace seal.

20 Detach transmission from assembly stand.

21 Fill transmission with transmission oil.   AR27.00-P-0270EWN
