Remove/Install Steering Column Module - AR54.25-P-2802EW

REMOVING Remove     
1 Remove steering wheel   AR46.10-P-0100EW
2 Pry off steering column tube cover (5) from steering column tube module (1) at catches (arrows) Model 212, 218
SPECIAL TOOL Long wedge

3 Remove steering column tube module (1) from steering column tube NOTES Do not operate the red safety catches in the steering column tube module (1). Otherwise irreparable damage will be caused to the fanfare horns and airbag clock spring contact.
IMPORTANT The steering column tube module (1) contains the fanfare horns and airbag clock spring contact, the steering angle sensor, the steering column tube module control unit and the switch panel. It is one component and can only be removed or replaced complete.
 
4 Unclip cable duct with electrical line from frame of steering column tube cover (5) Model 212, 218  
5 Disconnect electrical connection from steering column tube module (1) and remove steering column tube module (1) IMPORTANT The locking clip for the electrical connector is destroyed here and it has to be replaced. AR54.25-P-2802-02CW 
INSTALLING Install     
6 Clip cable duct with electrical line into frame of steering column tube cover (5) Model 212, 218  
7 Connect electrical connection to steering column tube module (1) and position steering column tube module (1) IMPORTANT When the steering column tube module (1) is in the correct installation position, the assembly indicator (3) is retracted.  
8 Break off transport protection (2) When installing a new steering column tube module (1).  
9 Press steering column tube cover (5) onto steering column tube module (1) Model 212, 218  
10 Install steering wheel   AR46.10-P-0100EW
  Initial startup     
11 Perform initialization of DTR control unit The DTR control unit is only initialized after the steering column tube module (1) has been replaced.  
REFER TO SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEMS     AD00.00-P-2000-04A
12 Perform initial startup of steering column tube module (1) Only when replacing steering column tube module (1).
