Replace Radial Sealing Rings On Side Of Rear Axle Center Assembly - AR35.31-P-0545LW

CAUTION Risk of injury  to skin and eyes due to handling of transmission oil. Health risk caused by swallowing transmission oil Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses.
Do not pour transmission oil into beverage bottles.		 AS00.40-Z-0001-01A

REMOVING Remove     
1 Remove corresponding rear axle shaft (37) Model 205 (except 205.386/387/486/487), 253 (except 253.388/389/988/989/992/993) AR35.30-P-0621LW
    Model 205.386/387/486/487  
    Model 253.388/389/988/989 AR35.30-P-0621MNA
2 Pry radial shaft sealing ring (32a) out of rear axle differential (50) using a suitable tool NOTES
Do not damage the seat surface of the radial shaft sealing ring (32a) in the rear axle differential (50).
Otherwise leaks may occur.		  
3 Clean seat surface of radial shaft sealing ring (32a) in rear axle differential (50) Assembly cleaner *BR00.45-Z-1028-04A 
4 Check seat surface of radial shaft sealing ring (32a) in rear axle differential (50) for damage If damage is present.
↓
Replace rear axle differential (50).		  
    Model 205 (except 205.386/387/486/487), 253 (except 253.388/389/988/989/992/993) AR35.31-P-0520LW

INSTALLING Install     
5 Coat sealing lip of new radial shaft sealing ring (32a) with transmission oil    
REFER TO CAPACITIES & SPECIFICATIONS Universal hypoid gear oils (specification 235.7) NOTES
Do not apply any oil to the seat surface in the rear axle differential (50) and around the outer circumference of the radial shaft sealing ring (32a).
Otherwise leaks may occur.		 BB00.40-P-0235-07A
6 Press in new radial shaft sealing ring (32a) using drift (03) until drift (03) makes contact with rear axle differential (50) SPECIAL TOOL Drift Fig 1
7 Replace retaining ring (37o) on inner splined profile of corresponding rear axle shaft (37)    
8 Install corresponding rear axle shaft (37) Model 205 (except 205.386/387/486/487), 253
(except 253.388/389/988/989/992/993)		 AR35.30-P-0621LW

9 Check oil level in rear axle differential (50) and correct, if necessary Model 253.388/389/988/989

10 Check rear axle differential (50) for leaktightness
