Remove/Install Spring Control Arm On Front Axle - AR33.15-P-0170LW

Check special tools for damage and proper operation (visual inspection). Wear protective gloves. AS00.00-Z-0001-01A
CAUTION Risk of injury  caused by scraping or cutting body parts on sharp vehicle parts Always wear protective gloves when working on or near sharp and non-deburred vehicle parts.

1 Vent air in AIR BODY CONTROL using vehicle diagnosis system. Model 205, 213

2.1 Remove center and rear engine compartment lining. Model 205, 213, 253

2.2 Remove engine compartment lining at rear. Model 293 AR61.20-P-1105EQ
3 Remove front wheel.   AR40.10-P-1102A
4 Unhook electric lines (10) from holder (11) and place to one side. Model 205, 213

NOTES Do not kink, crush or stretch lines.
Otherwise, the lines will be damaged and malfunctions will occur.
 
5 Unscrew nut (4) and remove suspension strut (5) from spring link (2). Model 205, 213

NOTES Route suspension strut (5) on spring control arm (2) in suspension strut linkage area to one side.
Otherwise, the elastomer boot on the suspension strut joint will be damaged.

6 Unscrew nut (6) and remove torsion bar linkage (7) from spring link (2). Model 205, 213

NOTES The ball head must be counterheld and an impact wrench/driver must not be used.
Otherwise the ball head gets damaged.

7 Remove stabilizer bar from front axle. Model 205, 213

IMPORTANT The torsion bar linkage (7) remains on the stabilizer bar.

8 Unscrew nut (8) and remove spring link (2) from front axle carrier (9). TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt, spring control arm to front axle carrier *BA33.20-P-1002-01U 
9 Unscrew nut (1), detach and remove spring link (2) from steering knuckle (3). NOTES The ball head must be counterheld and an impact wrench/driver must not be used.
Otherwise the ball head or steering knuckle (3) may be damaged.
TORQUE SPECIFICATION Nut, spring control arm to steering knuckle

10 Remove holder (11) from spring link (2). Model 205, 213

When replacing the spring control arm (2).
 
INSPECT Check     
11 Check seal bellows and ball head of spring link (2) for damage. In the event of a problem,
↓ replace spring link (2).
 
12 Check suspension strut linkage on spring link (2) for damage. In the event of a problem,
↓ replace spring link (2).
 
13 Check stabilizer bar linkage on spring control arm (2) for damage. Model 205, 213
except code M005 (Vehicles with 4 MATIC/all-wheel drive)
In the event of a problem,

replace spring link (2).
 
14 Check elastomer bearing in spring link (2) for damage. If neutral (original) elastomer bearing is damaged,

replace spring link (2).
If the elastomer bearing for camber correction is damaged,

replace elastomer bearing on spring link (2).
