- Transport mode not active
- Smartphone not connected over Android Auto (with code 14U (Smartphone Integration Package) or with code 17U (Smartphone Integration Google Automotive Link)) or CarPlay (with code 14U (Smartphone Integration Package) or with code 16U (Smartphone Integration CarPlay)) to the multimedia connection unit (A90/5) or the front center console USB port (X115/5).
Voice control system, general
The voice control system (VCS) is integrated in the head unit. The voice control system recognizes coherent commands that can be spoken by any person (e.g.: "Navigate to MercedesstraBe 87 in Stuttgart"), without the need for teach-in. If the message of the voice command is not clearly identified, a query is made by the voice control system.
On vehicles with code 531 (COMAND APS), numerous functions of the driver information system can be called up and operated, e.g.:
- Navigation
- Radio and other media sources (e.g. TV (with code 865 (TV tuner)))
- Telephony
- Vehicle menu
On vehicles with code 357 (Map navigation), the voice control system is limited to operation of the navigation mode.
Voice control system function sequence
The voice control system is switched on using the voice control switch and favorites are switched on and off using the head unit multifunction steering wheel button group.
The head unit multifunction steering wheel button group sends the control signal via the following route:
Steering wheel electronics →
Steering wheel CAN →
Steering column tube module control unit →
Suspension FlexRay →
Electronic ignition lock control unit →
User interface CAN →
Head unit
Voice input takes place via the driver hands-free system microphone, which is connected to the head unit via a direct line. The words that are spoken are converted into an electrical signal by the driver hands-free system microphone and forwarded to the head unit. The head unit processes the signals internally and implements them accordingly. The audio signals are generated by the head unit and emitted through the speaker system, for model 257.361, model 290 except code 810 (Sound system) and except code 811 (Advanced Sound System) over MOST and the Midline sound system amplifier control unit, for vehicles with code 810 (Sound system) over MOST and the sound system amplifier control unit, for vehicles with code 811 (Advanced Sound System) over MOST and the Advanced Sound System amplifier control unit.
