Location
The mobile phone cradle control unit is located under the upper control panel control unit (N72/1) in the instrument panel.
Tasks
The mobile phone cradle control unit is responsible for the following:
- Reception of power supply over circuit 30t and circuit 31
- Reception of the switch-on signal (wake-up) from the head unit (A26/17)
- Near-field communication (NFC) with the mobile phone through the NFC interface of the mobile phone cradle control unit (for login (initialization) of the mobile phone on the head unit)
- Near-field communication with the mobile phone through antenna near-field communication (A2/156) (for login (initialization) of the mobile phone on the head unit)
- With code 896 (Vehicle access and drive authorization over mobile phone): Communication for drive authorization over a capacitive coupling with the mobile phone and over the telematics CAN (CAN A) with the head unit
- With code 897 (Wireless mobile phone charging): Wireless charging of mobile phone (Qi standard)
- With code 899 (Multifunction telephony): The mobile phone cradle control unit connects the mobile phone through the cellular telephone system amplifier/compensator antenna (A28/15) and the telephone antenna splitter (A2/109) to the left telephone antenna (A2/102) and the right telephone antenna (A2/103), on model 290 with code 380 (Car telephony package) over the telephone antenna changeover switch (A2/168). The data exchange between mobile phone cradle control unit and the mobile phone takes place over a capacitive coupling. The mobile phone is charged without a cable (Qi standard)
- Communication through the telematics CAN (CAN A) with the head unit, e.g.:
- Reception of charging requirements
- Transmission of charging process status
- Communication to log into the mobile phone on the head unit (initialization)
- Communication for drive authorization with the electronic ignition lock control unit (N73) over the head unit as a gateway (with code 896 (Vehicle access and drive authorization through the mobile phone))
- Communication over the telematics CAN (CAN A) with the telephone control unit (N123/9) (with code 380 (Car telephony package)):
- Sending of the status of the cellular telephone system antenna amplifier/compensator
